Guest guest
Thanks Cindi, My body has even rejected gastric by-pass surgery. I've managed to put on all but 10 pounds or my original weight. it is VERY depressing. I know there is something wrong wit the surgery, but the thought of going through that again is scary..... and brings on more fears of failure. And yea, i've heard of about three other folks who had gastric bypass surgery for weight management...and come to find out later they were hypo. I have a feeling this may not be an uncommon thing. Just like the other things folks here have gotten diagnosed with...and later find out it was all due to the hypo. But you're no failure, Tigger....stop feeling that way. We have some things in our body that don't work right...and it can affect a lot of things. But you have hung in there...and are searching for the right answers...and you're on the right path! Sammie, It was Tigger's response I think you're responding too...she's the one that said hypo since teenager. But I too have had symptoms off and on since about 8th grade when I really look back and examine things. In fact, I can remember having a very swollen (golf ball) size lump come up on my neck about that time...and they actually removed it because it wouldn't go away. I don't know if it was a lymph node or what...but i bet it was..and i was having an antibody attack. Geez. Cindi
Guest guest
Absolutely!!!! I've had hypo symptoms all my life... at least since my teenage years. Are you serious? You've heard of this before? I've been feeling like such a failure. I'm thrilled that I don't have the pain that I had, but the weight is a real thorn in my side. My metabolism has been so slow that all I have to do is look at food and gain weight. Cindi, thank you for understanding. You have no idea how much it means to have someone understand. Everyone I know can't believe how little I eat and still weight 250 pounds..... there are times I just...... just don't know what to do. Thank you Cindi for your thoughts on this matter. Guest guest
Thanks Cindi! I've been blaming myself for so many years.... as have been everyone else. If I hear " if you just had some willpower " one more time, I may end up in jail. I actually eat less than most people I know. Thanks for saying I'm not a failure. It's hard to believe sometimes. Guest guest
Kathy, I sure hope you'll feel better soon and feel like posting more! That would be great! in Va. * Cindi, I just found this email. DUH! LOL I seen my Dr. the other day and told him that I know many that are doing so much better on Armour, but my test showed that I am in a good rage, even though I am soooooooo fatigued, very poor concentration, memory loss, ache, cold nose, fingers tremble, etc., so he will not switch me. He suggested that I might have Epstein Bar!! Right! I am sooooooooooooo happy that I am on this list! You all have been a great help to me! Especially , who lives only 2 hours from me. Sorry if I don't post much, I just don't have the time or energy. I don't even feel up to typing at times. I am wondering if I don't have Adrenal problems too, which I am going to have checked out. I really feel for the people out there who are still looking for answers! I'm going to order the kit to do some Hormone testing. Kathy . Guest guest
I'm very familiar with malabsorbtion because of my gastri by-pass surgery.... that is actually what the surgery does. It by passes the duodenum and junjunem parts of the stomach... where most absorbtion takes place. Yeah, I'm familiar with it. Or course it doesn't help that there is something wrong with my by-pass surgery. I'm going to Florida at the end of the month... I may have a suitcase full of Immodium to just get me through.... I am NOT spending my warm time in the bathroom! Tigger Re: Whining again...(possibly TMI) bathroom.... Like you, I was using Imodium just to be able to do anything. And even now, I am very cautious about eating. For example, at Christmas morning brunch I ate very LITTLE because I'm always concerned about the food just going right through me. Constipation as a hypo symptom? HA...i had that maybe 15 years ago. This other was far worse for me in the beginning months after diagnosis (and before diagnosis). I took prednisolone for a while and thought maybe that had made it worse. Maybe it did. Maybe not. I thought maybe it was celiac disease or wheat sensitivity and cut out bread for a while. I don't think anything really helped a lot though. Other than time and restricting my diet somewhat. Also eating small portions. I finally figured out I think that this was a combination of malaborption from being hypo...that my digestive tract was just damaged and was going to take lots of time to heal. Have you read about malabsorption? I have actually stopped taking any supplements right now other than some vitamins I get in taking a Ensure protein shake a day and a Ensure with FOS (good for digestive health) that I am drinking to help heal my digestive tract. This is helping me. But I have gone through months of this before it got better. I also think you have to be really careful when you take the Armour and to not take too much so as to protect the digestive tract until it heals. This is my story on this...your problem could be entirely something else. But do know that you're not alone. This is also parts of the symptoms for colitis and crohn's disease, something that I have worried about but feel that since I've gotten better...perhaps it isn't that. Yea...I used lots of Imodium. Guest guest
Cindi, It's been in bouts for about the past nine months or so. The bouts seem to be getting longer. I just went to 3 grains... or Generic Armour. I don't know if that makes it any different from Armour. It's been going on for awhile. Back in November I had to not go to work because I couldn't make it from here to there. Sad. I'm out of work for the winter because I work seasonal work. Which is good because I'm hoping to start feeling better by teh time I go back.
