Eating should not interfere with these tests, just skip your morning meds!

gee, I was told no coffee testing the free's because it does stuff that may

a;der the results. same with sugar. That was from the lab manager at

Esoterex. She told me ignore what the nurse told me.

They told me no coffee or tea and avoid sugar since many of us even if not

dxed have insulin issues and the morning sugar and coffee can effect the

results.Though when I am just running my ferritin and frees I have argued,

but when the lab person asked me if i ate or drank one time and I said yes

and they didn't list it, I asked the manager if since she was who said it

effected the results if she would redraw at their cost. She said on the

coffee, yes! So, mixed reviews. When I mentioned that to my DR he said he

agrees coffee ot tea or coke should not be consumed ever before testing, the

sugar he was unsure about and didn't see the logic, but as a rule fasting is

always best. So, how is that for a mix of info in one hours time! LOL

I am a coffee holic, big time. Even with the low renin and aldosterone and

being told no on the coffee daily, I still drink 4 cups or 1 pot each day.

On lab days, I get up, make the coffee, leave it in the car ( in a cup) and

I am the first one at the lab. Blood drawn, then run to the car and gulp

that coffee down!

I am so anemic that giving blood anymore is a chore and I have big bruises

for days! I try to not test often, though I think Janie is going to start

giving me crap since i had my DR give me more scripts for thyroid meds and

florinef, but didn't tell him I am having trouble catching my breath doing

anything at all and not getting any tests run since March and that was just

ferritin and something else minor then.

hmmm I wonder if that's my problem. I tried 3 times and twice they

didn't get enough blood (maybe half a tube) and the 3rd time the vein

collapsed. But my % saturation was elevated but my ferritin was

something like 35. My iron was slightly elevated.

Weird.

Don't know how going to a hospital will make a difference. And I made

certain to drink water the night before the morning of.

I don't know. Because my DR uses only esoterex and run thousands of people

through there for his trials, I get pretty special treatment. They have me

drink water, use a heating pad tgere first, nothing has wirked. They even

always get the vein first try, it is just me!

I have a coffee addiction too! I am so bad that I have employees that are

traveling from Mexico to Dallas, I ask them to bring me Mexican coffee.

It's better than the American coffee we have. Last time they sent me a

kilo! Very good coffee!!!
