Guest guest
It looks to me like you might be heading toward hyper! RE: Digest Number 2023 Hi, I got my most recent lab results back yesterday. He only did RLB Free T4 and RLB TSH along with an antibody test. Antibody was <2.0 (<2.0) T4 was 1.0 (0.7-1.8) TSH was 0.94 (0.28-5.00) 2 months ago he did T3, T4 and TSH. He admitted all three were on the very low side of normal so that's why these current tests were done. My cholesterol was 249! Can anyone help me understand this a little better? He says my thyroid is normal. But I do have a lot of HypoT symptoms. Help?? Thank you! Tressie

Guest guest
yeah, pit fits there possibly, Re: Digest Number 2023 > isn't the low TSH and low T4 indicative of central hypo? A low TSH with a low T4 can be indicative of a pituitary problem-- i.e. the pituitary is not sending a message via the TSH for the thyroid to produce more! Anybody else have an opinion?? It would have also helped to have seen a free T3. Another stupid doc for not doing so. Janie
Guest guest
Jamy, this is the same things dr's say when they see a suppressed TSH. Low TSH doesn't mean hyper. There is so much more that goes with it to make it be true hyper. If she were hyper, a tsh this low would mean they'd then check T3 and T4 (because they don't know any better) and those would be over the range. Then hyper is suspected and confirmed with further testing, like the uptake scan or testing for antibodies. Guest guest
that was just it, there was antibodies tested and they were negative. they were all low on the last test of all three , so just on these tests mixed with the last, I still think hyper RE: Digest Number 2023 > > > > > > Hi, > > > > I got my most recent lab results back yesterday. Guest guest
seeing what she said, by low in the past, I am betting the DR meant hyper range as opposed to when we all saw low, we mean hypo range. I am seeing the miss speaking by the Dr;'s confuse things. I think a full range of her tests should be done, free t3, t4, ferritin and TSH. Guest guest
A Free T4 of 1.0 in a range of .7-1.8 you consider hyper? That's not even at midrange for that value, even if she had a 0 for TSH. That is a Free value. Those are the ranges that HealthCheck uses also, or I think a ..8-1.8. Of course, we still don't know very much because we don't know the Free T3 either. Guest guest
That's exactly what it's looking like to me too, Cindi. No stimulation, so therefore no thyroid hormone. It's below midrange. Guest guest
It is the height of the thyroid hormone that would make a person hyper, hypo, or normal (well, then there's thyroid hormone resistance also), not the pituitary hormone, unless the thyroid is still working perfectly, putting out plenty of hormone, and the TSH is stepping up it's own production, driving the thyroid to make too much, only if it can. No thyroid hormone, no hyper. Guest guest
I think we need all the tests like free t3 and t4. I would also like to see the old tests Re: Digest Number 2023 > > > that was just it, there was antibodies tested and they were negative. they were all low on the last test of all three , so just on these tests mixed with the last, I still think hyper
Guest guest
the tests she had do not show why what I think was a total t4 was low normal and the TSH was very low. Not enough testing was done and I still haven't heard back if Tessie was on no meds which is what I remember.
