Gee, one of my favorite combos is celery-apple juice, somtimes beet-

celery-apple juice. You can reduce the sweet content by using tart

apples like a Granny . I think if you drink the juice, even a

veggie-fruit combo, and wait 30 minutes before you eat anything the

digestion rate is not an issue. The thing about juices is there is

not much to digest, no fiber, just the juice and vitamins. That's

what makes them so nutritious.

together..specially some more than others. They digest at different

rates for one thing. Fruits are more cleansing & purgative. Veggies

are more healing & soothing. They should be juiced & drunk

separately for better assimilation, effectiveness & digestion.

do you feel better drinking them in general? I ordered the new Jack lalaine and

he says like with cantaloupe, grind everything including the rind.

Sometimes I feel better drinking them, like before I get my period

when I have no appetite. I have found them to be grounding and

clearing at times. For me, I have to be careful about the idea of

grinding everything up because I am pretty sensitive to molds. The

juicer I have separates the pulp from the juice. It is hard in my

head to think of them as food though--not as satisfying as chewing

on something, and always a little cold which is hard to take here in

MA.

Oh yes absolutely!!! I always felt better after drinking juice...more energy,

better skin/complexion, less tired, better digestion, thinking clearer. Yes most

of the vitamins/minerals are in the skin, rinds or outer coverings of veggies &

fruits. I used to juice & drink watermelon, rind & all for alkanalizing/healing.

It's wonderful.

Best to buy organic produce tho so as not get tons more pesticides & chemicals

from the fertilizers into our systems along with the large juice quantities too

tho. But that's too expensive.

Jack LaLanne, when he was a young guy & on tv in my 20s & 30s I'd watch him on

tv & do exercises with him & follow his food plans. His juicers are supposed to

be very good...top of the line I heard...or so he says

I think any recipes that you have that add iron and oxygen, would be very

grateful to get. I only eat veggies when they are cooked to death!

Let me know how you like this juicer. I bought one for myself (from my hubby :)

) for Christmas, so I haven't used it yet. I found it on sale at Kohl's for

$100 and then they always have 15-20% off coupons. That is a good deal.

Kohls.com is having a sale today and they have one juicer for $44.99. It is a

Juiceman Jr and it looked pretty nice in the store. Just wanted to pass it

along in case anyone wanted to get one.

Re: Juicers

I just use mostly an equal amount of carrots to 1 whole bunch of celery with a

whole bunch of parsley. This tastes pretty good to me when served at room

temperature if not more than a day old. The carrot juice starts coagulating &

getting sour & spoiled after 2 days tho...so drink it the first day if possible.

For extra greens & added iron & minerals plus oxygen one could add a l/2 bunch

of spinach too. Doesn't taste too bad.

I've tried mostly greens like spinach with kale or chard for their

oxygen/alkaline & calcium content but it's just too bitter...yuk!!! I have to

have carrots in it to offset that or just can't drink it at all.

Tho they say not to drink too much carrot juice because it's got more sugar in

it. But it's very healing anyway, loaded with beta carotene/vitamin A in a

non-toxic form.

Adding some cabbage is good for digestion & keeps ulcers away. Cabbage juice

isn't bitter either. Some people like the bitter tastes like in mustard greens

or dandelion greens but I hate it.

  • 3 weeks later...

I always drink my juices freshly juiced to get the benefit of the enzymes.

Carrot juice is recommended in the Hallelujah diet (www.hacres.com

<http://www.hacres.com/> ) and I juice enough carrots, one large piece of

celery, and half of a large Granny apple, or a small Granny

apple, to make a total of 8 oz. If you must avoid too much sugar, juice

half as much and add water to make up the difference.

No, I'm not following the Hallelujah diet currently, but I did in the past.

It helped a lot. I eat a lot of salads and always include spinach leaves. I

love them. And when my folic acid was tested, it was at the top of the

range. I feel it was due to the daily salads.

Thanks, Caroline, and everyone for these wonderful hints. I look forward to

all of your information!
