I had to go back and look it up, but it was about 9 months I

noticed 'real' words. They were pretty odd words - 'cat'

and 'quack' (for his toy duck) so originally we weren't sure they

were even real. He also didn't babble much. He was a pretty quiet

mellow baby. He just seemed to prefer to sit and take it all in.

In retrospect I think it was the tort and the fact it was

uncomfortable for him to move. He didn't crawl until he 10 months

and just started walking at 17-18 months. He did things backwards

from most babies. He didn't have very many words early on - it's

only really taken off in the last few months. The same thing

happended to my girlfriend - she was worried because her son said

hardly anything at 18 months, but once he figured it out, he picked

up new words very quickly. Your daughter sounds perfectly normal to

me!
