The past two weeks or so...I've felt like fluid or wax was in my right ear.

finally went to the doc to have it flushed out if it was wax. it wasn't. doc

said eardrum was red...and I probably had a ear infection. Gave me

amoxicillin.

Ok - after 2 1/2 days of Amoxicillin I was a lot sicker than before i

started. So I stopped that. Dang, doctors will make you sick even if you

aren't,

huh?

Now I'm wondering - was my ear drum red because i'd been tugging and itching

at my ear? and now my other ear is feeling sorta funny.

So here's the question....I'm wondering if there isn't just something going

on as far as healing and fluid leaving the ear canal and surrounding area

there...hypo fluid that is?

Has anyone experienced any such thing on their healing path?

I'm more concerned now that the antibiotic is harming me. I think the dosage

may be way too high for me. 875 mg twice a day. Or maybe I'm sensitive to

penicillin.

do you think it would be okay to split a pill?

if you have an inner ear infection, it is usually bacterial and you can get very

sick when the infection is being attacked but you should stay on the antibiotics

well i've just about figured out that the dosage is way too high according to

everything I can find. the doc gave me 875 mg. every 8 hours. for ear

infections, the usual dosage (also for most things) is 250 - 500 mg. every 8

hours.

No wonder i'm feeling wiped out and sick.

I'm gonna break the pills in half and take them.

I'm tired of having to check everything a doctor does. But if i don't, they

seem intent of trying to kill me. :(

I have constant ear trouble, to this day. One thing I've got to say here is

that, if there is an ear infection there, never start an antibiotic and then

not finish it. This is dangerous not to finish it. It will make the

bacteria (IF there is a bacterium in there) more resistant to the next

antibiotic, or will make it more resistant, period. This is why we now have

a very resistant strain of bacteria called MRSA and VRE now, because

millions and millions of people either took the wrong antibiotic or never

finished the right one. This has created a super generation of very

resistant strains of bacteria. I had held off on any antibiotics for the

last 3 to 4 yrs because I felt that I had not been allowing my natural

resistance to kick in, but did break down awhile back and ordered a couple

of rounds of a powerful one for sinus, ear, and bronchial infection,

zithromycin (Z-Pak). However, if you're allergic to an antibiotic, don't

take it, just get another one that the bacteria isn't resistant to. That

one is a very broad spectrum one, though.

Cindi,

I'm sorry to hear of your ear infection. All I have to reply is

that someone wrote that when you're hypoT that your ear canal

swells... causing the itching, ringing, drums beating, etc.

My ear feel like they are running... nearly all the time. Then the

drums beat at night. Usually, a decongestant stops it.

But it sounds like more than that is going on with you.
