Guest guest
Now that I've given the appropriate monikers to SweetSue, Cindylouwho, Sis (Frick), and BonnieBlueFlag...I have a confession. Yes, it's truth time. Before I became famous as the ~LoneStarRose~ you all know and love (hopefully), I once had another nickname. When I was a small child (preschool/toddler), my Nanny used to put those " precious " prickly ruffled panties on me...you know, in colors to match my dresses....the ones I wore with crinolin petticoats. Well, we had a dear, dear family friend in the person of Mr. Henry Earl . Earl and my Nanny went to school together in a one-room schoolhouse (their daddies went to the same one, along with fellow student Sam Rayburn) down at a no-longer-there-place-except-in-our-memories called Flag Springs, Texas. Mr. Earl could really play the piano, and I'm talkin' ragtime and good ole Southern gospel. By ear. Good and loud. When he played, it sounded like he was hitting all 88 keys with all his heart and all his might, and boy, was it wonderful! And he could sing, too, and so could his 4 pretty daughters and sweet wife, Pearl. (Yes, their names really were Pearl and Earl). It was a real treat when they came over and Mr. Earl played and they all sang. Nanny had a piano, you see, and Mr. Earl didn't. I was a wee tot, and my way of expressing my honest appreciation and joy at their music was to dance to it with great abandon...to their amusement and delight. For my " grand finale " , I'd always bend over (chorus girl fashion) and show my ruffled panties and flounce my petticoat. From that time until the day the Lord called Mr. Earl Home (and to me, it makes Heaven all the dearer knowing he's there) in 1965, Mr. Earl would always greet me loudly with a beaming grin... " Well, howdy-doo and God bless your heart, LITTLE BOTTOMS-UP! " Mr. Earl was a gifted poet, too, as was my Nanny. But that's another story. Love, ~LoneStarRose~ (~~) aka Little Bottoms Up
