Guest guest
Hi all, has anyone heard from Patti since her bad Actonel experience? Thanks, S.
Guest guest
Hi and all -- Sorry I haven't been able to get back on line until now. It seems I had a small bleed and it has stopped. (Thank goodness!!) Of course, no more Actonel. I have to keep a very close watch on my stools for the next week or so and I have another appointment with my doctor next Tuesday (3/16) - sooner if needed. I also have an appointment with a GI doctor on March 25. Anyway, I feel good and have orders to call at the first sign of anything out of whack. Now they want me to try Evista -- has anyone had experience with this? Supposedly it doesn't have the GI side effects like Actonel. I'm really leery about trying anything else until I've seen the GI doctor. I want to thank you, , for your help Sunday - it meant a great deal to me. I'm glad you were online at the time. Love, Patti Anyone heard from Patti? Hi all, has anyone heard from Patti since her bad Actonel experience? Thanks, S. Guest guest
Patti, You are very welcome! I'm glad you are ok and it was a small GI bleed. Keep a close watch on the stools as advised. I threw my fosamax and actonel out a year ago. I didn't bleed but the stomach pain, diarrhea ,and bone pain made me feel worse. I have heard of Evista, but have not tried it, I hear it makes hotflashes worse! I tried Forteo, which is an injectable drug similar to fosamax and actonel. Well that went out the window too! Daily injections. They need to come up with better drugs for women! Did the Dr. give you any Prevacid or Prilosec or Nexium for your stomach? They reduce the acid in your stomach and allow it to heal. Even if your stool color returns to normal, there may still be some hidden blood there you can't see. This is called occult blood. Well best wishes and keep me informed. I'm glad I was sitting here at the computer when you post popped up. Sincerely, S. Guest guest
Hi -- I have been on Nexium for a couple of years now for GERD. I heard that about Evista, too (of course, I went thru menopause with nary a hotflash, so it better not give them to me -- I will be really, really upset (ha, ha, ha).). Thanks again for all your help.
