Guest guest
Hi AJ, Most of the time there's pain without swelling, but on occasion there's a small amount of swelling too. (like today, after it was examined.) The pain is constant *all* the time, whether it's swollen or not. Do you have any grinding when it moves, and if so does this seem to increase your pain a good deal? How have your thumbs been doing lately? Sure hope you get some relief! CindyH Wisc. 3rd thumb surgery in a year I was wondering if it were inflamed? Or are you having the pain without swelling? laxity@... Cindy; I guess this must be different. My muscle at my basal thumb joint is inflamed and twice the size of the other; which is somewhat inflamed. It doesn¹t grind. It feels like the bone is trying to poke through the inflamed muscle that pinches the nerve. You mentioned a degree that a thumb should be able to go up? My left thumb; the less inflamed - hand palm down on the table and putting thumb to the ceiling can go about 70 degrees. My right thumb in the same position can only go up about 15 degree. This is what the physiotherapist has given me Arthrotec for. None of my medical care is doing anything as I am still waiting on the chronic pain clinic; who have not yet decided on a plan.
