Guest guest
It's been really interesting to hear all of the different opinions about sedation vs non-sedation for the blocks. Earlier, when I said that the first group of docs that I saw only did the blocks with sedation, I really meant that was the only way that they would do them. Gees, it was awful. Although it helped to more relaxed for the first time, I can remember literally having to crawl to the bathroom at night on the night of the blocks otherwise I would pass out. On the other end of the stick, when I switched to the docs who didn't use sedation I was initially quite frightened by the prospect. Thankfully, I quickly learned that everything would be fine. Okay, gang. On another topic, I need for you to refresh my memory a bit. Now that I'm back again on the Duragesic patches and the sites are itching like the dickens, was it the Rhinocort Spray that helped with the itching. If so then I'm thinking that it would be nice to be able to spray it over my entire body. Please give me a hint about the Rhinocort, the reason that some folks were using it, and whether it was OTC. Much appreciated. BarbaraTonia wrote: Like Helen, I've been having my upper blocks done without sedation. Thedoctor did give me the Versed this last time, but that was because mymuscles were so knotted up that they was jumping around, and the bloodpressure cuff was way too tight, so they gave me 1/2 an injection extra morethan normal.I like it better though without because it's a pain to try to keep up with 3kids when you are zonked out the rest of the day after that block!Tonia-------Original Message-------Hi everyone --Hope you don't mind if I put my opinion in here. I have had many blocks over the past five years, both with and without sedation. The doc used Versid (spelling?) and one day forgot to give it to me. Although I was nervous and my muscles tensed, there was no pain or discomfort and best of all, I was awake later in the day. Not zonked out for a day or two. After that, I went without sedation and never had a problem with the muscles tensing up. I would much rather go without sedation. However, some people need the sedation just to get through it. Do what is best for you.
