Guest guest
As most of you know- Iv'e been manually formatting my computer- well- I ended up giving up on saving anything more than I had- which means a huge loss in many things and now the time consuming effort of getting drivers manually located and placed in proper places. I have been doing the downloading of drivers since yesterday evening........ some are quite huge- I lost a lot of e-mail I had intended on saving and/or responding to but cant recall them all right now and haven't the time to fly around in archives but will do that soon. One topic I do recall being mentioned that I have a curiousity about is hand control.... Was there any financial help in getting this and,,,, where to begin on getting one? Driving was my fav thing to do and now after 2 yrs of not being able to, Id give anything to try - but dont want to endanger others. Also on the medic bracelet, I had filled that out in past but never found the EDS info...... Would really like to have something as such , I live alone with my kids who know only bits and pieces of the info- so would want any emergecy situations to have proper knowledge if I am for some reason unable to talk..... Would appreciate all responses. Hugs and Love- TJ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free by AVG. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Hi TJ Regarding Hand Controls - You can get portable hand controls: http://www.spokesnmotion.com/products_shop/product_detail.asp? product_id=101 5 or manufacturers installed ones like these: http://www.infopoint.com/sc/health/access_options/hand.html It seems to me that moving your legs about during a long trip is more hazardous then having to get the left foot involved in the braking process. If you touch the brake at all while the cruise is on, the cruise disengages. The cruise engages when the car reaches a specified speed, so it can't be used as a replacement for your feet. Hand controls can and would clearly be a better choice if you were to look at the rate of decline in someone with EDS - the car may last you ten years, but it may not last you if you aren't careful to make the right choice. Perhaps you ought to arrange to sit down with a representative from the disability program at Toyota and see what modifications would be right for you. There are so many other modifications available to look at as well. I hope this helps. Love Lana
Guest guest
TJ, The website for the medic alert bracelet is http://www.medicalert.org How to get a Medic Alert Bracelet Medic Alert is a company that sells bracelets and necklaces and offers a 24 hour hot line number that people can call and get information on you based on the ID number they read off of your bracelet. You could also just get a regular bracelet and have it engraved with something like your name, phone number and condition ( " kidney transplant " would probably do). You can enroll in Medic Alert by phone: 1- Or you can check the Medic Alert web page for ordering information. You need to give them a credit card number; medical information; name, telephone number, and address of person or physician to contact in emergency; and bracelet size. You can get a bracelet or a necklace. They cost 35$ for stainless steel, and up to 115$ for silver. For medical information most people specify the organ that was transplanted, any major diseases like diabetes, and any severe allergies. The advantage of the medicalert system is that more information can be given by the hot line than can be engraved on the emblem. No, I don't own stock in Medic Alert, it is a non-profit organization! Here's a couple more: http://www.medicid.com/ or http://www.glacombe.com/medical.html As far as what to put on the alert, that's a personal preference, and some others may have some ideas for you. By the way, you can email me at EDSLana@... Love Lana
