Guest guest
Hi Barb, The scan was mostly a cinch. Its basically like a slow x-ray. The place where I went the spine and hip are done. It took about 20 mins. The table I was on was nice because it was padded with sponge! Great because my tail bone and back pressure points didn't get hurt :-). The only uncomfortable part I found was for the hip scan they strapped my ankles to this hard steel contraption that inverts your thigh bones. My ankles are tender and I found that uncomfortable but the scan didn't last long so it wasn't too bad. Depending where you go you may even get to see your results right away! I went to a great gem of a tiny hospital in a tiny community that happens to have a kick butt radiology department and 'patient education program' so immediately after my scan I got to see the x- rays on a computer screen, got to see my bone density (mine came back ostepenia/mild osteoporosis) on a chart in relation to where I should be and where I am, and it was explained what it all meant. I also got a chance to ask questions and get GOOD answers. Oh yes, as Lana mentioned if you have yoga or stretch pants with an elastic waist band where them for the scan. Take care! Hope your scan comes back GOOD :-) -Rhea
