We've all been there darling. You need to find a new GP. The patient doctor

relationship is too damaged. I am keeping you in my prayers. Hang in there

and hope you find someone nearby.

Hugs,

Sue

Dear Jo,

I'm SO sorry you've had to go through all this. Many of us here have

learned the hard way that when we come accross a doctor like this it is in our

best interests to leave and not come back! As you have painfully found out

doctors are people too and you are not going to change them just like you can't

change anyone else. They are who they are. The sooner you find out a doc is an

incompetent arse and get the heck out of there the better. They are not worth

your time and effort fighting.

Your best bet at this time is to wipe the record clean and start fresh with

a new GP. It sounds to me like you have an insurance plan that requires you get

a referral from a GP so you need to have one. If I were in your shoes I'd shop

around for another doc, try younger ones as I have found them to be not only

more knowledgeable about EDS but also more willing to learn about something new,

and not ever even bring up the name of your old GP or the OS. Just the

Geneticist and your pain management doc (think those are the 2 you like?). Let

your old bad records sit and rot in their offices.

I know it sound like a lot of work to start over but your fighting with

this GP is going to be just as much work, and fruitless work at that, and you

will never get that bad info actually removed from the file.

When doc shopping, if any say to you " all you have to do is work out " or

anything along those lines, run do not walk to the nearest exit :-) Bring the

basic write up on EDS with you (a copy that you can leave with them if they want

it) and also a list of what you want/expect from the GP. They will know right

away that they can not " fix " you so will probably ask what you expect from them.

Trust your instincts. If you think you've found one and then a few

appointments in you feel you've made a mistake, get out before too much time is

wasted and continue trying to find a good one. It is hard to get a good bead on

anyone in one 10-15 min meeting.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best of luck!

Hugs,

B.

Dearest Jo --

I am so sorry you are having to go thru this - it is hard enough dealing with

what we have without having a person such is this " medical doctor " treat you so

awfully. I hope and pray you can find a real doctor, one who can help you and

listen and believe in you.

You are always in my prayers and thoughts --

Love, Patti

Hi Jo,

Good luck with your search for a doctor. Have you made any progress

yet? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you find one close to your

home.

You are quite a long way from me. I am in Southampton (Hampshire),

right on the south coast.

Lots of love,

Fay.
