Guest guest Posted December 1, 2001 Report Share Posted December 1, 2001 Around the time I called off my own surgeries at age 10, there was some talk about another skin graft and making an ear drum, but all these BAHA's and whatnots you all seem to be referring to are completely foreign to me. Was I gilted? jamie you may have just not received the correct information, or all of it. even your cat scans may not have been administered or interpreted in a way that would be meaningful to someone like dr jahrsdoerfer. (then again...) but... wouldn't you want to find out for sure? if atresia repair is absolutely ruled out, then this BAHA thing sounds like another option and you could start tracking down the necessary info here. jack Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Usually if a patient presents with bilateral microtia and atresia, a hearing aid is prescribed.... in cases of unilateral microtia and atresia, I think that often a hearing aid is not prescribed because the assumption is made that the patient can hear out of one ear, so no big deal... This really isn't right.
