I will be seeing my old rheumatologist on Friday..she fit me in after talking to my primary...guess it was the way the ophthalmologist came across that she didn't like...not me as a patient. I think if my primary got involved sooner I would have already been in to see her. He totally agrees with remicade as the treatment and she is on the same page thankfully. He is also sending me back to ot and pt to hopefully get some strength and dexterity back for my right hand and arm. He also said it's time to see a dermatologist about my hair loss and psoriasis..and since I am already using elecon which is one of the strongest ointments for the psoriasis he thinks the dermatologist will also recommend remicade since it is the newest in treating psoriasis also. He also re-did all the labs..he wants to be sure the lyme coming out positive is not a false positive beforetreating me for it. I should hear back by thursday what the results of all the labs are. So all in all it was a good visit...he hasn't seen me for over a yr because his partner has been seeing me all this time...he also now agrees with the RSD dx since he has now seen me...so that is a plus I guess having 3 drs in agreement on the dx...not that it finds a cure for it...but that now they all agree on the meds and treatments..which is always a plus I guess. He also wanted to start me on prednisone for the optic neuritis..but is holding off until he hears back from my rheumatologist on whether or not I will be getting the remicade infusions right away or whether she wants to treat me with predisone first before starting the remicade...I guess because both make you susceptible to infections so you can't be on both at the same time. So hopefully Friday afternoon I will know more and can update you all again...lol. Hope everyone is having a great day...Hugs..Ginny
Guest guest
HI Cathy, Neurontin is approved for neuropathic pain due to diabetes in the lower limbs and also for neuropathy due to herpes as well as for seizures. I know this because I was denied Neurontin by the medically needy program for use as a pain reliever for the RSD but was OK' d when the Neurologist said I had Diabetic Neuropathy of the lower limbs. Guest guest
Cathy, It you look at the form from the pharmacy, it should say that neurontin is used for anti seizures and also to control neuro muscular pain. That is what it says on all the forms that I ever recieved from the pharmacy!!! Take Care! Guest guest
Cathy, I read in the american journal of pharmacy at my local cvs about 2 weeks ago that neurontin had been fda approved to treat the nerve pain caused by shingles and other neurological disorders. Dawn is also right it is also on my information sheet from the pharmacy that comes with neurontin. I tried to find the article online but was not able to...next time I am in CVS I will ask if they can copy it and then I will scan it for you. Guest guest
Ginny, Sorry about that, it is very easy to misread what is written. I was trying to tell my doctor that I didn't have enough methadone to last me until the 14th is when the new prescription is, I couldn't figure out why until I got home and looked at my prescription bottle and it had 240 tablets I am taking 9 a day well 9 times 30 is 270 not 240. Then I looked at the new one and they are bumping me up to 10 a day, for 30 days and again there is 240 tablets, I think they forget to change the number of pills and that is what the pharmacists have to go by, so I called and they are writing me new prescriptions. They actually admitted that it was their error, they are very good about things like that, they don't want us having to have an appointment just because they aren't given me the correct amount of medicines to last me until the next appointment. Anyway I am looking at several things, including a pump, because I can't stay at this level of pain forever. So I hope you have a good evening, I think I am going to take a nap along with my granddaughter. take care, Lin -------Original Message------- Lin, I'm sorry you must have misread what I wrote..I am starting an fda approved treatment for arthritis...but it has extreme side effects since it is a chemo therapy drug. this treatment should help with the optic neuritis, RA and psoriatic arthritis and has a bonus that is helps psoriasis. I was on methatrexate when it was still an experimental drug...which is now widely used to treat RA. I hope you find something that isn't as extreme as ketamine to help you...I hope their is something more conventional first that could help you....Hope you have a great day...Hugs..Ginny
