Guest guest
Hello All, I hope you are all doing well. My prayers and thoughts are with you! I really need to vent. sorry! Last night I got home from work and fell asleep. My husband came home 2 hours later and helped me get to the bedroom and got me my pain meds and then I fell back to sleep. This morning I got up and got ready and drove myself to work (my husband normally drives me but i have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon today). anyways i got to work and then got my drink out and was getting ready to take my pain pills. (i always try to take them after i have driven somewhere. i don't like to take them before i drive) but i forgot my pain pills at home, they are sitting on my night stand next to my bed. i forgot them this morning! normally i am really good about putting the pills in my briefcase the night before but last night i was just too tired to remember to do anything. i can not believe that i have to go through the day without any pain relief and i will probably start going through withdrawl also! i would just drive home and get them but that is an hour drive one way and i already have to leave early to go to see the surgeon. i have already subluxed my hip and shoulder and not sure whatelse is going to dislocate today. this is not going to be a good day! i am really trying to keep myself from crying, does not look to professional when i cry at work. does anyone have any suggestions to help me make it through today? take care all. thanks for letting me vent! hugs! jen
Guest guest
Hi Jen, I've done something like this before too! It's not a good thing. Since your hubby drove you to work, I'm assuming you wouldn't be able to leave sick, as you'd have no way home - correct? First of all, I think I'd go to my manager and tell him/her what's up, and then if there's anything you can do to make matters better, try to do that. In other words, do you have to walk around - if so, avoid it. Do you have to lift - avoid that. Would it help to take an extra break or longer lunch? Do that. Can you take Tylenol or something to help with the pain? Can you call your doctor to see how much tylenol or ibuprofin to take to help with the pain? If worse comes to worse, I'd still leave, call your hubby and just go to your appointment early or something, and then leave for home immediately afterwards. I'm sorry I'm not much help here! Good luck, and don't make things a lot worse for yourself by trying to get through the day. No job is worth a person's health, Jen! Let me know how it goes, and how the appointment goes too, OK? Guest guest
Jen, What an awful day... You have no idea how many times I have arrived at work, only to excuse myself, jump in the car and drive home to get my meds. But I just have 3-4 miles home, certainly not an hours drive... Sure is not a good thing to let those meds go out of the system when you are on a steady pain med. regimen... Do you have something like a locker or drawer you can lock at work? Maybe it would be an idea to keep a few there as a " just in case " supply? You have my full sympathy... I have no idea how much the time is where you are now, your mail did not show. You don't have a pharmacy near work? Maybe your doc could call in some meds to you? After all you need to get through that docs appointment and not to forget the hour long drive home... If you can't get hold of any meds, please be careful... Sending positive vibes your way!!! Aase Marit

Well, thank you all for reminding me that I have forgotten my pills this morning too. Also forgot to give the dog his pills too. At least Dad can take care of Sherlock's glucosamine, but I won't get my hormones until after 9 pm tonight. I may as well switch my pill time to evening at this rate. I just haven't been able to remember in the morning lately. -Barb
