Guest guest
For someone who did a lot of bragging about being back as a member of AC and the human race, my Tanita scale was as merciless as I was warned and now I better keep it up. New house, new year, new resolve. I will not give up and I will be another success story before this year is up! I see my doctor again March 28 and I plan to wow him with my progress. Best of all, we found a fabulous fish store near Stanford with a 30 foot counter and a gazillion varieties of fresh fish. My reward for staying on track is going to be a great American fish shop. For every variety of fish I am familiar with, I plan to buy and try something new. Barb RE: exercise way to go barb you are really back on track exercising and eating right too!! congrats girl catherine *Take a peek at the Challengers "Before" pictures in our 2002 photo album at our Yahoo page, click on photos 2002 or try directly at: http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/atkinschallengers/lst?.dir=/ & .src=gr & .view=t *Would you like some great RECIPES? Guest guest
I think Joya was first to introduce fly lady to this list. It's great to know you're part of the flybaby family too. Isn't it amazing how her reminders and plain common sense ideas on everything can have such an impact on us? Re: exercise Brag as much as you like, Di. Wow, almost 700 miles! Now for comparing apples and oranges.... I feel like a human being today. House neat thanks to fly lady,*Take a peek at the Challengers "Before" pictures in our 2002 photo album at our Yahoo page, click on photos 2002 or try directly at: http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/atkinschallengers/lst?.dir=/ & .src=gr & .view=t *Would you like some great RECIPES? Guest guest
I will send in the recipes and... I promise, none will taste like hairless cow udder. My imagination creates lots of Mrs. Asher cozy concoctions, and all but a few have been edible. Re: exercise And send those recipes in, Barb!!!!!! Guest guest
DH gave this to me, thought I would share The BEST Exercise You Can Do Is... ....WALK! New research from Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital concludes that women who walk regularly lower their heart disease risk by about 30 percent--the same amount as women who do more vigorous exercise. No pain, no gain...WRONG! For folks who hate to break a sweat, this is fabulous news. To get the most benefit, you need to walk 2.5 hours a week. " I think the current study is the most compelling evidence to date that regular walking can prevent cardiovascular events in women, " lead author Dr. JoAnn E. Manson told Reuters Health. " Women can truly 'walk away' from cardiovascular disease, " she said. The research team collected data from almost 74,000 women aged 50 to 79 to find out the types of physical activity in which they engaged weekly. No one had cancer or cardiovascular disease at the beginning of the study. The women were followed for three years. The results: Those who walked or exercised regularly were less likely than others to develop cardiovascular disease. But interestingly, both vigorous exercise and walking had the same effect in reducing the risk of heart illness. " There was no evidence that walking conferred a smaller benefit than vigorous exercise, " Manson told Reuters about the study that was published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Of course, a brisk pace is most beneficial, but even women who walked a mile in 20 minutes were also protected from cardiovascular disease. But one warning: Prolonged sitting--16 hours a day--seems to counteract the benefits of exercise. That is, among women who exercised or walked, those who spent more time sitting during the day were more likely than others to develop cardiovascular disease. " Try to get up off the couch or away from the desk, " Manson advised. Now there's scientific proof that walking really is the best exercise. It's cheap, requires no special equipment, facilities, or clothing, anyone can do it, and it's easier on the joints than intense exercise. And walking won't even mess up your hair! ..
