Guest guest Posted November 25, 2004 Report Share Posted November 25, 2004 I was just wondering if anyone has heard of any anecdotal or empirical (research) evidence of anyone actually getting over RSD? I have not been encouraged by what I have read, I'm 25 and was diagnosed a year ago, but likely had it for a year before that. It seems like everyone here has had it for a long time and expects it to be lifelong Hi, Glad you have come to this place. There are chances of remission if caught early on, but it seems hard to get that diagnosis in time. There are 1-2 on here that have gone into remission. Unfortunately, if you have another injury, it seems to want to come back. Younger people for some reason stand a better chance of going into remission. My podiatrist was telling me about another patient (not by name)who had been sent by another doctor, and had to tell her it might be life long. She had wondered "when this was going to be over with." This patient just wasn't understanding, even after having an SCS implanted by a pain doctor, that it wasn't a temporary thing. I had a pain management support group and she wanted to know if she could give me the person's number. She never has called. Sometimes people are afraid of what they will hear, so not surprised. But never lose faith that they can't find something to reverse the short-circuit that we have in the nervous system!
