Right now I'm going off oxycontin, so I have that to use when I have surgeries.

-There are three coming up in the future.

I tried going off faster than I probably should, and ended up having so much

pain I thought I'd croak.

I talked with my primary doctor, and he said to try it *very* slowly. (He wasn't

a bit surprised this happened -I was on a dose a bit less than you were.

I decided to cut one tablet every two weeks - I'm now down to one a day, and I

do have an average pain level over what I'm really comfortable at, but its no

where near what I was having when I tried to lower the dose too fast.

I didn't have any nausea, sweating, or any of that....just a lot more pain than

usual. Next Tues. I should be off it all together. :) I hope I can deal with the

pain-it's increased with each pill I've dropped. (I do have another pain med I

take.)

It doesn't help to now have a hip that keeps going out anteriorly, and it

doesn't want to go back in. When it finally does it doesn't last long. That's

what starts in the piriformus syndrome I'm dealing with....and also causes the

SI to not line up right. :(

Having EDS stinks sometimes.

Sorry so long....

I'm so glad to hear going off oxycontin did better when you tapered it. There

sure is a lot to learn about when we have EDS.

I didn't know I had to wean off so I tried going from 30mgs 2X daily to zippo.

DID I GET SICK!!!!!!!! That evening I had

bad diarrhea, gut pains, severe nausea and gagging, heart palpations

and a racing heart beat, severe tremors that shook my body so hard

the whole bed was rattling, altered mental state (I was sure I was

going to die!
