Guest guest Posted November 19, 2004 Report Share Posted November 19, 2004 Cathy, what I understood the difference between damaged and mutated is that damage don't work the right way because either they are missing a component or lost a part of what they were and mutated have grown more components and actually change the way they work in my system..they don't work like a t-cell they actually cause damage to the other t-cells. I have been on methatrexate which was used as a chemo drug for a long time and then was approved for RA. I know that between having auto-immune disorders and chemo my immune system is worse off cause every time you take a chemo med it kills the "bad" cells and also kills good cells in the process. I do know I had the damaged and mutated t-cells before I ever started on any chemo meds...so i can not attribute the change to the medication. I will be starting Remicade soon for RA and it was also a chemo drug first.
