Guest guest
Today my physiotherapist wrote me a rx for Arthrotec. Has anyone used this medication? He wrote it for the pain for the osteoarthritis - specifically for my thumbs; but didn¹t say if I should continue with the Prilosec for the GERD; or if it would interact with the Lipitor. On the site it says that the liver needs to be checked often for toxicity; which is what it also says for Lipitor. Will this up the odds of toxic liver? ---------------- The only one of the three that my family has first hand experience with is Lipitor. My wife just happened to part of that small percentage of users where one of the side effects is severe eye hemorrage. I checked a couple of my drug interaction books and didn't see anything that highlited any particular adverse interactions among these three. However, since you have two that both highlight potential for liver toxicity, you NEED to ask your doctor or pharmacist about it. The other thing you need to be aware of is that Lipitor is one of the drugs subject to a severe warning about possible toxicity if taken with grapefruit juice. There is something in grapefruit juice that can adversely interact with cholesterol lowering drugs and cause muscle breakdown.
Guest guest
I had Arthrotec last year for 2 months. I don't want to be negative because I am sure it helps many people but for me it did not. My rheumatologist prescribed it but I saw no results whatsoever. It wasn't worth it to me to continue on it (with the liver warnings) if I'd seen no help in 2 months' time. I usually respond well to medications but haven't had any luck with medications like Arthrotec, Mobic, Vioxx, etc. My dad (my EDS family link) sees the same physician and has had most of the same medications as I have and has also not had any noticable results but my non-EDS mother has had relief for her arthritis related neck pains. Hope you'll have some relief! Joy Sedgley HEDS ville, FL
