Hello I posted last night, no responses. I have to have the rest of

my molar tooth pulled tommorrow, it fractured in half Friday night

on a steak and cheese sub! I haven't had a tooth pulled since baby

teeth! Do I need to be on an antiobiotic? Will they put in stitches?

I'm not a tooth nurse, I haven't been through this before. I 'm more

scared of the dentist than all the surgeries on my joints! Anyone

with EDS had a tooth pulled before? And how they felt afterwards?

Thankyou, S.

Only thing that hasn't been said, is that if you don't get a stitch or two

(up to the Dentist),

you will be given some wadding (gauze) to fold up and put over the whole in

your jaw. Apply a small bit of pressure to stop the bleeding, and then you

will get a blood clot in the hole which is what you want. If you smoke,

only do so with the gauze in place over the hole, 'cause if you suck out the

blood clot you end up with 'DRY SOCKET'. You won't like that experience

very much if it happens....Ouch!!. Don't worry, like Mike said, The tooth

has roots, but no nerves....you won't feel a thing.

And that has to be the biggest understatement I have seen posted

since I joined the list. I have had the distinct displeasure of

going through that twice. The second episode only confirmed that

the utter misery the first time was not a fluke. I can't say

exactly where they rank, but these two episodes are someplace on my

lifetime, top ten, list of things I never want to do again.

Thank you ,

I really appreciate your and Mike's replies! It makes me feel better! I just

won't smoke. I don't know what dry socket is, I've heard it is bad, but still

don't know what it is. I gues if I have a 10 of pain that's it.

Thanks so much! S.

The other thing if you bleed too much, put a moist tea bag on the tooth

area! It stops the bleeding!

- unless you have mitral valve prolapse, you don't need to be on

antibiotics. The only problem is getting numb.

Cindy Henemann's daughter trained as a dental hygenist and found out that

the dentist needs to put the pain killer interligamentous to numb the area.

I've had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at age 17/18. The bottom ones were super

impacted and I only had problems from the swelling (chipmunk cheeks) and

from the pain killers... The top ones weren't impacted and just popped out.

Only problem from the pain killers again. I got sick on both of the pain

killers.

Is it an upper tooth or lower tooth?

Bonnie

PS Good luck!
