Guest guest
Dear Cathe, (is that right or did you leave a letter off?) Basically - ditto what Mike said :-) If it's the Ulnar nerve that is impinged you would feel the numbness and tingling on the outside of the hand. Anywhere from the outside of the middle finger through and including the pinky. It could be pinched in the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist. If it is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome then the main nerve bundle that comes through the shoulder is pinched and you'd get more of an overall hand/arm numbness. In either case it is possible for it to go away on it's own. Either the bones can move off the nerves or if the bones are already off the nerve irritation can subside (like swelling going down. I have/had both so have quite a bit of experience :-) If you think it's more like TOS then try the pillow thing. Whenever you are sitting use a pillow under the bent forearm and position your shoulder in place - mine is up and then back - using the pillow for support. This has helped my TOS tremedously. Use a pillow of the correct size to keep your shoulder positioned correctly. This works by lifting the bones off the nerve bundle. Good Luck! Hugs, B.
