The name of the author on several excellent books on ADD/ADHD is Dr. Mel

Levine who is a neurologist at UNC. I\'ve heard him speak several times and

he is OUTSTANDING. I used many of his techniques in my classroom and

guarantee they really work!

A friend of mine in Atlanta, Dr. Garber also has a book called Beyond

Ritalin which is quite informative.

But the best of all is Driven to Distraction by Hallowell

which covers ADD from childhood through adulthood.

Having lived with and worked with children with special needs for more years

than I care to admit to, particularly those who were diagnosed as ADD/ADHD,

I will be glad to answer any questions privately that you might have.

Thanks so much Judy. I'll print out your e-mail and add it to my growing

collection of ADD info. (Just started it yesterday!).

I've seen those books advertised on the web.

I have so much to learn. And, with everything else that's goin on, I don't know

how I'll do it. But I will, somehow!

I will e-mail you privately for any questions, but I'll just ask one now (I

don't know if I asked or not)

What do you know, if anything, about bio-feedback and have you had any experiece

with it?

I'm very interesting in finding out about this.

Hugs,

Mon

In my other life, I attended several workshops by both Hallowell and Levine

and read several of Hallowell's books. I got to spend a day with Mel Levine

and also took a video class of his for a semester. Parents really like

Hallowell's books a lot. In his talks, he often starts off by talking about his

own

experiences with ADHD. I used one of his books one semester as the guide for a

parents group I was running. Both are great resoureces. Levine is excellennt

with any type of learning issues actually. He is also great with parents who go

to UNC to have their kids evaluated. I don't know if Levine ever spoke about

having problems as a kid himself but if you ever watch him in action or giving

a talk, he clearly comes across as having ADHD also!!

Both of them are two wonderful resources!!
