Guest guest
I have seen the post talking about FDA approved medications for RSD and the topic of Neurontin. I posted about 3 weeks ago a show I saw on CBS Sunday Morning where they had a Whistle Blower from the manufacturer of Neurontin who stated that doctors were getting monetary kickbacks for prescribing this drug to people that it was not meant for, like RSD. The doctors are also getting free trips to medical conferences and higher kickbacks for prescribing it in higher doses. This drug, Neurontin is NOT FDA approved for anything other than Epaleptic Seizures. Most doctors wont agree or tell you that because of the money they are getting for prescribing it. My former doctor had me on it for almost 2yrs but I was never on more than 900mg a day. I have heard on the post here and other people that they are on Thousands of MGs a day. Neurontin only seemed to help me for about a year. I went off it before I ever knew about all this. My new pain management doctor will NOT prescribe Nuerontin for ANYONE with RSD or other things like it. He does NOT believe in the use of it for anything other than Seizures. He must be one of the very few who are keeping their Hypocratic Oath for patient care. If you would like to see an interview with the Whistle Blower from the drug Co, go to www.cbsnews.com. Then find the Sunday Morning Show. It was aired about 3 Sundays ago. You should be able to read or view the entire interview. We cant trust drug companies to protect us and with all the meds we end up having to take, it has become OUR responsibility to look into our own health care provided by our doctors. In that respect, we can no longer trust doctors who are more than willing and eager to prescribe this med for RSD. Like Tonia said, Please ASK your doctor if any particular med is FDA approved for treating RSD. We as patients have to become Proactive in the way we conversate with our doctors. Ask questions all the time. Take care and BE AWARE. Sincerely, Rhonda
