Guest guest
It sucks getting older! Perhaps. But it sure beats the **** out of the alternative! And I agree with both you and Cindy. The one area on me that I see definite physical signs of aging are the backs of the hands ... that very fine, wrinkled, parchment type appearance that you remember from your grandparents hands. The first time I noticed it, it was like " who did the hand swap with me in the middle of the night? "
Guest guest
I worked at a bookstore when I was 17. I was chatting ...with a customer ... and he said, " you can't be 17 - you're more like, 27! " -------------- I had a similar experience when I was only a couple of years older than that. I was either 19 or 20 at the time and the other person swore that I was 30. But it wasn't in a book store. It was in one of those certain establishments that frown on forged documents. And the guy behind the counter had severely irritated me by providing sub-standard service. After I finished my ONE libation, I simply called him over. The conversation went like this: Me: " You really need to be a bit more careful about who you serve. " Him: " What do you mean? " Me: " You just served a minor. " Him: (angrily) " Like h*** I did! " Me: " Yes, you did. " Him: (in an indignant huff) " Who? " Me: " Me. " Him: (laughingly) " Yeah, sure - you're at least 30. " Me: " Not really. " At that point, I pulled out my wallet, flipped it open to my real, unforged driver's license, pointed out the birthdate, and said " See? " Fortunately, I was closer to the door than he was to the end of the counter, and was thus able to make my admittedly rapid departure without his unwanted (but intended) assistance. Mine haven't been, but now that I look at them, I do see the lines and creases are more evident than even a year ago. -Barb

I was always smart enough not to let the bartender know, so I could return again. I didn't do so often, but being the youngest in my circle of friends... -Barb

Guest guest
Dear Mike, very amusing as to what you said. Sometimes I wish I could just stop time, it goes sooooo very quickly. Happy 60th for whenever it was/is? I guess as EDSers we are more preoccupied with time as we are deteriorating. Is everyone deteriorating? I certainly feel that I am and I am not really looking forward to getting worse and being more and more dependant on others. But I know I just have to accept that. I have been taking something called 'Transfer Factors' which are a chain of peptides from Bovine Colostrum which give my immune system 'intelligence' and different types are doing diff. things like working on my auto-immune deficiency diseases such as Fibromyalgia and Crohn's disease and I feel I am over those as the symptoms are much less and I don't take the medication for them. I don't get as fatigued also which is great. I was told that they can't do anything with EDS but I am definitely much better than I was. Have you heard of Transfer Factors? We get it from a company called 4Life and it comes from America? Well enough said. Bye for now. Gentle Hugs Helen C South Oz

Guest guest
Yes Barb, quite true. I now have a senior citizen card but it doesn't do much. I have to wait to 65 yrs to become a pensioner. It used to be 60 for females but it has been changed so now it depends on your birthdate as to when you are considered a pensioner!!!! Sneaky government ploy hey!! Guest guest
Dear Jo, I had the same problem of looking much younger than I was but I think it is catching up now. It really would annoy me growing up sometimes. I always looked about 5 yrs younger. When I was about 8 I went to the shop for mum and gave the lady the right amount of money and she said " what a clever LITTLE girl you are, " and gave me some lollies for which I was very suprised because I thought I was quite old at 8 not a 'clever LITTLE girl' but as I was walking out of the shop realised what she was on about and laughed. Also when I was on buses people would give me lollies and say what a lovely LITTLE girl I was. I had beautiful strawberry blonde hair so maybe that was it, but as I got older I was most indignant about it all, eg I was sitting by the roadside at my home and a lady stopped and asked directions and I was 15!!!! She was amazed at what I had to say and I asked her how old did she think I was and she said 10 !!!!! I would get into trouble with bus drivers for not standing up for my 'seniors' when I was just as old as them!!! I was always asked for Identification to go into pubs, cinemas etc. I worked in a hotel in England and when I stepped down from the bar to clear drinks, people always commented on how LITTLE I was. It has its good and bad side. Try to enjoy it while you can and take advantage when you can because it doesn't last forever!!!! I got married at 27yrs old and it was commented that I and my husband looked like teenagers!!! Have you any antidotes of the same kind? Love to hear them.
