Guest guest Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Hello everyone, I am new to the group. I had my surg. August, 2005 and lost a little over 100 lbs. I am doing well but I have a problem with my hair thinning out to nothing. I have tried several things to help stop this or slow it down a bit. Does anyone have anything that they have tried and works or have heard works? Thanks for any suggestions Quote
Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Hi everyone, I am 10 months post op and have lost 160 lbs. I never lost any of my hair. Even my surgeon was amazed. I faithfully did my protein (I use the Isopure) everyday, take my multi vitamin and calcium ( Wal Mart sells a petite sized one that is very easy to swallow) and.... I was taking 1000mcg of the Biotin everyday. You can find a chewable/sublingual one at The Vitamin Shoppe. They are $7.75 for 100 tablets. They are also cheaper on the Isopure than GNC. I hope this helps some of you out. I took the Biotin for 6 months and stopped. I was really worried about losing my hair and this worked for me. Bye, M Quote

Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Nice to hear I'm not alone. It's possible I did lose hair but my hair grows like a weed so maybe I didn't notice. My doctor didn't say anything about it though but I didn't bring it up either. I'm 9 months out (Jan 20). I'm taking a super cheap Multivitamin from Costco. I get 500 for $12. I take one twice a day. It's got at least as much of the various Bs, Biotin, etc. as my previous prescription prenatals that were very expensive. I also take two calcium citrates twice a day. I got these on a buy one get one free special and I think they were on sale too. Very cheap in other words. I don't take anything else and my blood work has been spot on, almost dead center. I have to admit, though, that the tablets I take are massive in size but I've never had a problem with large tablets. Well except for the first couple of months after surgery of course. Guest guest Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I think I lost a lot of hair but didn't really notice because I grow hair pretty fast. I guess losing hair wouldn't have been such a big deal for me. Then again I am a guy so it's probably less of a deal for guys. Losing hair is, I would think, a lot less depressing than being obese for the rest of your shortened life. I might suggest a hat. Take that seriously or sarcastically depending on your mood.
