IBS study

I was asked to be in a study for IBS today and then they called back to say

they had an opening for this Wednesday!! Wish I had time to lose some weight

first!! I don't think that everything is from bloating!! :)

My gi doc and EDS specialist wanted to get me into this study on IBS but I

was turned down because I also have gastroparesis. There is another IBS study

that I was then asked by the research people to be a part of. It is to

investigate a medication that has been used for 15 plus years in Europe in post

menapausal women. They are testing to see the effects it has on the pain of IBS.

The good thing is that after the study is over, they will give me the medication

from the first study,,, it is one I have already been on (Lotrenex) before it

was pulled off the market. My doctor doesn't have the requirements necessary

to prescribe it now that it is back on the market. Now, though, I will be

able to get it. I made such a huge difference before. It really changed my

life!!

" ) I still don't understand how my gi's group has no one in it that has had

the training that it takes to prescribe this medicine. The drug from the study

that I am going to do , still has about 3 years before it is available

publically. There is the chance that I will be given a placebo but there is

nothing

to lose even if I am. I was glad to find out that even on all my medications,

they would still take me.

I would imagine that this is a multicity drug trial by Glaxo so some of you

may have it going on where you live too. It is only 50 minutes from me.
