I have had that with each surgery in the last 1.5 years and so has with her wrist surgery last year to repair a torn ligament. Each of our surgeries were supposed to be days surgeries (except for my hysterectomy) but we both ended up staying in the hospital overnight because nothing was helping the pain!!! This tends to be common with EDSers, unfortunately. As to the wheelchair.... When had an angiolipoma (noncancerous fatty tumor filled with blood vessels) removed from the ball of her foot in 2000 she needed a wheelchair. When she was fittend I made sure it fit me too. It was a good thing because I have used it when I've been in extreme pain to go shopping with her at malls. My FIL used it too when he had ALS. He eventually got an electric wheelchair, which I've also used after my 1st surgery. Since I couldn't drive, I used the electric wheelchair to " drive " over to his house (a block away) when we were selling his house, after he passed away from the ALS. We kept the wheelchair for both and I if we ever need it. Unfortunately, we don't have a van but we will get one the next time we buy a new vehicle waaaay in the future. I was going to suggest you get a wheelchair too... You're MD should be able to write a prescription for one - if you have a van, get an electric one so you don't hurt the arms. That way anyone can use it in the family when they need it. What you do now to conserve your bodies is better in the long run.
