It keeps me up all night. Sometimes it feels like some has put a needle in your foot or leg or any limb that is effected, you just control the spasm response. The only way to stop it esp at night is a muscle relaxer. There is another posting I saw in regards to Heartburn. It occurs also, because in certain stages, the RSD constricts the stomach acid to digest your food and it comes back up. Hi Jan, I too have had feelings of stabbing, burning, shooting pain and like my ankle was in a tightening vice. As well as some very unpleasant other feelings. The spasms were out of control and kept me from getting any rest. It seamed the less rest the worse the spasms. It was an endless cycle. I was prescribed Klonopin and Ativan on top of my already heavy med load. They seemed to work fine on the spasms and some of the pain issues but did not address the feelings of constant aching and radiating pain. The swelling was out of control, (and still is at times although a little better). The pain continues and my doc says there may not be any significant change in the future had the SCS in August, the third try for it, so far so good!!! But no matte what I have come to terms that I will be in pain the rest of my life. I try (TRY TRY TRY!!!) to dwell on the good things around me and put the pain in the back ground. It kinda helps sometimes. My docs are most sympathetic and always willing to share any new news with me about chronic pain. Also I am very fortunate that my docs work together as a team to coordinate my care. Orthopedic, plastic reconstructive surgeon, GP, infectious disease control, pain control doc (anesthesiologist), psychiatrist, neurologist, and general surgeon. You would think with all of these docs I would be CURED!!! Not so but working on it!!! VERY MUCH SO!! Take care all, Love Jai
