Hi everyone,

We are a family and I would just like to take this opportunity to

thank you all for everything. I do not always post, but every day i

read the posts and it helps me to get through the day knowing that

there are people out there who understand what i am going through,

and who support me and eachother in our daily struggle to live our

lives. I really do not know what I would do without this list and

support group. So THANKS!

I agree with Sue we are a family and need to stick together. We

have to remember that the reason we are all here is to support

eachother, to be there for eachother. If you want to leave the

group I understand but remember that we are here if you ever need us.

Hugs,

Jen

Betty, I would love to give you a great answer; but I cannot, and I have

Hypermobile EDS. But in reading your post, this quote came to mind (I don't

remember who said it):

" Candles melt away as they are used. We often feel we are the same-burning

up, burning out, burning down. What we must remember, though is how we light the

room of this world in the time allotted to us. "

My thought is to try and forget this could happen. We all could get hit by a

beer truck tomorrow. If we allow ourselves to worry over problems we have no

control over, it seems useless. Make the most of each and every moment, try

to do everything you enjoy doing as much as possible, and let everyone know

how much you love them. That's what I TRY to do, and I hope when I pass, when

ever that may be (10 years, 40 years, 4 days...) that I will have many, many

beautiful memories and the love of hundreds of people to take with me on my

journey; as that is all we leave this world with.

Take care, and know that others are praying for you!

Love Lana

I am so sorry for you. I wish I could say something to make the pain go away.

I just don't know what to say, but I want you to know that I'm thinking of you,

and hoping something will happen soon that will get you back on your feet.

Big Hugs,

Mon

Dear Betty,

Funny you should say this, but I voiced the same thing to my dear friend,

Beth, but in a private email.....everytime we lose someone in our EDS family it

hits too close to home for us. I, too, have been a little worse with anxiety

since I heard the news.

I have just received a healing relaxation/positive affirmation tape

specifically for the arteries...it is really neat, and helps me to relax and

think I am

doing positive things for my health....our minds can do so much to help heal.

Let me know if you would like me to make a copy for you and I will send it

along.

I also try to focus on breathing, and prayer. It helps me too.

The problem I have been having, is a lot of what they give for anxiety is not

working any longer for me, so I must find soemthing else to help. Its a

vicious circle sometimes. Everyone needs to find what works for them, so these

are merely suggestions. Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs,

Sue

COOL, SUE!!! I once went to a therapy group, and the leader taught us

visualizations, and I then bought a couple relaxation tapes. I think they're

GREAT,

especially if you have a hard time doing something like this on your own. I

know you can get some that talk you through visualizations and affirmations,

or you can get ones that are just music that are supposed to have the same beat

as a normal heartbeat. I'd totally forgotten about that, Sue!!! You were

right in your email yesterday, it IS NO WONDER that we get along so well!!!

LOL!

This is so great -- I have a relaxation tape also. My counselor and I did it to

help with anxiety. It's a visualization tape and really helps me alot.

Hi Betty --

What works for me is a combination of things. I find that the more that I can

involve myself in things that interest me, the better I can handle it. At first

it was only small things -- like I love music, so I decided last year that I

would get CD's of the music I love and then play it and dance around the house

(kinda hokie but it helps me keep my mind from running in circles!!) I also

decided last fall to start seeing a counselor - luckily we clicked so it has

been a very positive experience for me. She has helped me put things in

perspective which helps with the anxiety - talking to someone like this, at

least for me, is one of the best things I have done for myself.

In the beginning I had to constantly force my mind to think of other things. It

is easier now, but sometimes the anxiety still sneaks in.

The other one is joining this group. As you know, the people here are wonderful

and it does help so much to not be alone. Dialogues like this really help, too.

Another one for me is research. I am always looking into anything I think will

help -- sending info to my doctors, asking questions, etc. (some say I bug them

-- but as I told one of the docs, maybe thats what the medical profession needs

to help some of them stay " human " ). For me, this also helps to lessen my

anxiety - I feel that I am contributing in my health care and can do some

positive things.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Take care,

Love, Patti
