Guest guest
Ontario lawyer Baker reports that approximately 60% of Ontario students with disabilities, who would have been graduating from high school in previous years, will be denied the right to graduate because they have not met the discriminatory literacy standards established by the previous government. These students will not be able to attend post-secondary institutions or entering apprenticeship programs. A group of families have called on the new government to suspend this discriminatory " high stakes " testing until accommodations can be provided and adequate programming provided. If you agree that students with disabilities should not be forced to drop out without graduating, write to the Minister of Education Gerard Kennedy at the Ministry of Education, 22nd Floor, Mowatt Block, 900 Bay St., Toronto, M7A 1L2, fax or e-mail him at mailto:minister@... Please send a copy of your letter to Baker at mailto:dbaker@...; 400-672 Dupont St., Toronto, M6G 1Z6; fax: .
