Guest guest
, I gotta tell you, I give you credit for being " brutally honest " but I can't say I agree with you. We're all different. While it's good for everyone to share what works for them, what's good for one person isn't good for another. I can tell you that I don't feel " responsible " for my capillary damage. And for me, rosacea came out of nowhere. It wasn't steroid induced or due to any type of sun damage, I don't know where it came from. I never had problems with my skin - and I always just used basic soap and water to cleanse. Although I didn't neglect my skin, I really never payed much special attention to it either and then one day out of the blue, I started getting these " bumps " (pimples) and I was pink all through my cheeks and nose - that color came and went for a couple of weeks and then it just stayed....and now here I am. You say that it's the use of long term topicals that cause rosacea, I can tell you that for me, there's no way that's true because I never used anything prior to my rosacea. And while photoderm may not be " natural " , it's not natural either to walk around all day in pain with a burning red face. I'm lucky, my rosacea isn't that bad but I've already scheduled my first photoderm treatment because I don't want it to ever progress to the point of it being disabilitating like it is for so many of the poor people in this group. I can tell you that minocycline and noritate have controlled my rosacea pretty well - no, I don't like the idea of being on antibiotics long term and, do I think it's " healthy " or " natural " ? Absolutely not. But I do think it's realistic. It's controlling something that is labeled as " a progressive disease without proper medical treatment " . I think it's great if you can control this naturally(I haven't read specifically what you've done to control yours but it sounds like you took the natural approach). But not everyone can. And while I think you're right - there are alot of derm's who are just out for $$ and don't have a clue, I also think there are a lot who know TONS about rosacea (like Dr. Nase) and really are out to help us. I hope you have continued good luck, -Donna

Guest guest
Anything you buy over the counter or you're derm prescribe is doing you more harm then good. Even if it looks like its working its doing other damage. stop using it now.... today. You're derm knows shit. He knows how to charge you for a visit and prescribe products that are irritating you're face further. Ive been there, and lived through it, and trust me, you can fix your skin if you just understand that the skin isnt supposed to be blocked up with all this topical stuff. What did they do 1000 years ago when they didnt have Oil of Olays Foaming face wash? I gave myself seb derm by using all this stuff. trust me, its not worth it. Follow my previous regime that i posted and you will be surprised. It took me 5 years to realise all this, so im just helping you guys. They say that doctors dont know what causes rosacea??? well i know, its simple.... its long term use of topical substances that aggrivate the skin. Who knows what the combined effects of alcohol, peg stearate and all that crap can do longterm? no-one knows, except me or anyone else who has developed skin disease because of it. By the way, anyone doing photoderm is wasting their money. Its just another treatment to suck money out of your pocket. I cured my capillary damage naturally and it cost me 2 dollars. Im sorry to upset anyone but im being brutally honest. You wouldnt have capillary damage if you looked after your skin in the first place. Using all this shit on your face causes capillary damage, it caused mine. But dont worry, you can reverse the damage, ive done it, and if i can anyone can. Im not saying photoderm doesnt work, but what the hell is it doing to your skin in the process? its not natural. Sorry for coming across as arrogant but im allowed to be because ive been through what your going through. Listen to me, and i promise you that things can improve ten fold. thanks guys. stephen stephenaloe@... _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Some of us never used a lot of topicals on our skin like you did. That may be what caused your problems but that doesn't explain it for the rest of us. Even though I did have a few complexion problems from time to time over the years, I've always used gentle cleansers, and rarely ever any topicals until the cea symptoms developed much later in life. That's when I was prescribed the Metrogel. There are lots of people using topicals for complexion problems with good results. I'm not just referring to people in this group. If the topicals are so bad, why isn't everyone having the same problem as you? Is Andy back again? > > Anything you buy over the counter or you're derm prescribe is doing you more harm then good. Guest guest
Thanks donna, sorry to hear you are having trouble with your skin, its really depressing isnt it. And i understand everything you said but i do believe that we are all different yes but as a universal principle something is causing this skin problem. It doesnt just appear from nowhere for no reason, your body is trying to tell you something. I know you say you havent used anything much but do you wear makeup? you said you washed with soap? soap can be really bad too, as i found out. I know what your saying but i think we have to stop and listen to what our body is trying to tell us. people seem to just ignore what its trying to say and use topicals and medications to mask the symptoms. I know its hard. its painful, and sometimes you dont know what to do, but im trying to make people think about what theyre doing. I wish you the best and would love you to try my routine if you could, maybe before photoderm?, hopefully you could achieve what i have.... good luck steve >From: DonnaW919@... >To: stephenaloe@..., rosacea-support >Subject: Re: you're all on the wrong track >Date: Sun, 27 May 2001 21:43:23 EDT > >, > >I gotta tell you, I give you credit for being " brutally honest " but I can't >say I agree with you. Guest guest
I know what you're saying but why is your skin giving you problems? theres a reason for it. As for good results with topical products, its probably damaging the skin in the process. You said you used gentle cleansers, well theres no such thing. Gentle means that the company can make more money by targetting a bigger section of population. If >the topicals are so bad, why isn't everyone having the same problem >as you? Look around, people are having the same problems as me. Its sad and its getting worse im afraid. steve > >To: rosacea-support >Subject: Re: you're all on the wrong track >Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 01:34:29 -0000 > >Some of us never used a lot of topicals on our skin like you did. >That may be what caused your problems but that doesn't explain it for >the rest of us. Guest guest
sure... ill repaste the original email here... good luck and keep me posted steve --------------------------------------------------- First off id like to state the following -- " Theres no such thing as worn out skin. If everytime you look in the mirror you get depressed, hate what you see, are sick of looking at a red irritated face... please take the time to read my little story. Im not selling anything, im just trying to help people out there who may have suffered like i did with bad skin on their face. My skin problem started in around year 11 at high school. I had very oily skin and would get large pimple whiteheads. I never got cysts but they were large and sore. I also had heaps of blackheads all over my face aswell. It started to concern me, so i started using some over the counter product like clearasil and washing my face with soap. Then over the following year or two, since they werent working, i tried benzoyl peroxide and all that other stuff you can think of. i was on minocycline for 2 years, Doxycycline for a year, and accutane for 6 months. All this time during these tablets i was taking, i was trying hard to clean my skin, using all the wrong products with ALOCOHOL and AHAs in them, not realising what i was doing to myself. My face started to get red before i went on accutane, i noticed slight blood vessels showing but it didnt bother me too much, so i went on accutane. Still continuing to use all these products that were literally eating away the layers of skin from my face. While i was on acccutane i lost so much skin due to not moisturising enough and i was also using a alpha hydoxy acid wash (which i didnt realise was irritating my skin further) and my face was just getting redder and redder. I tried everything to get rid of the redness but nothing worked. it was a viscious circle and i was making things worse and worse. Anyway, after accutane, i became concerned over the condition of my skin (accutane caused depression, dont even think of taking it.. trust me) . My face wasnt just red, it was a completely different colour, it was like a dark, sun damamged skin all over my face, only under my left eye was normal skin which didnt seem to cop all the abuse. Anyway, my skin would itch intensely when in the sun, my head would itch too. I would get red after walking down the street or doing anything physical. my face was a red irritated mess. To make matters worse, i developed seb derm on my face, and it was really really bad, all over one side, i couldnt go out in public for a week, i had to go to the derm who prescribed the usual cortisone and antifungal cream to put on it. The seb derm healed up but my face was still a mess. I broke down in the derms office and cried. I was becomming suicidal, depressed, i didnt want to do anything. I was nervous and riddled with anxiety. i just wanted to have skin like the other people my age who had clear perfect skin. My skin looked rough too, like thousands of large pores open, it just looked terrible. After having tried everything, i thought, i read some more about aloe vera which i always knew was good for skin, so i decided to start applying it to my face. I should mention that in an effort to heal my skin, i radically changed my diet too, trying to avoid refined sugar, dairy and meat, and eating lots good stuff.. fruits... veges etc. Anyway, the diet was maybe improving my skin a little bit but nothing real noticeable to the eye that i could see. So i started applying aloe vera STRAIGHT FROM THE LEAF (note the emphasis on fresh from the leaf) all over my face, twice a day. I stopped putting anything else on my face. NOTHING AT ALL. i went swimming in the salt water a bit at the beach, but only washed my face with water, i use bottled water because it doesnt have anything added like tap water. I know this sounds extreme, but thats how irritated and sensitive my face was (bottled water)... I read that aloe vera takes time to work so i was prepared to wait.... first week i didnt notice too much. the second and third week i started to notice a slight reduction in redness. But the MAGIC started to happen around the 5 week mark, when i looked in the mirror, my face was starting to look blotchy, because i was starting to gain back normal skin color in areas, it was still red but starting to turn pink. Slowly things started to improve even further, and the redness was turning pink. I look in the mirror and my face is starting to look smoother. Over the last week or so the improvement has been *amazing*.... I DONT WANT MY STORY TO BE LIKE JUST ANY OTHER PERSONAL EXPERIENCE you have read somewhere else. I honestly say to you that the aloe vera has started to cure my skin problem. and the most amazing thing... MY BROKEN BLOOD VESSELS on my face are going too... they are breaking up and turning back to normal skin colour. I just cant believe my face can improve this much. I am so happy. I can relate to what you all are feeling. I know whats it like to hate what you look like. Its the worst thing in the world. What im going to do now, is list the things that i have been taking/doing that contibute to my wonderful results. I have NO DOUBT in my mind that the fresh aloe vera was the reason behind the clearing but i would like you to try strictly following this, for at least 2 months. 1. Dont use ANYTHING on your face. NO OVER THE COUNTER CRAP. NOTHING!!! ITS ALL MONEY MAKING!!! NONE OF IT WORKS!!!! THE SKIN ISNT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THIS STUFF ON IT (im sorry ladies, but this includes no makeup) i know, this is probably impossible for you all, but i want you to know exactly what i did to reverse my skin problem. As i right this, im still not completely cured, but im only 5 weeks into my routine and id say may improvement is about 65%... its just a great feeling. I cant wait to see what will happen over the next month or two. 2. Take around 50 ml of ALOE VERA JUICE, twice a day (make sure its the pure stuff, find the best brand you can) 3. Take two tablespoons of (ok, this is going to sound like advertising, but im just writing what i use) UDO'S CHOICE ULTIMATE OIL BLEND... it is the correct balance of omega 3,6,9 oils. This stuff when used daily for weeks, will make your skin soft and smooth. It actually works. 4. Twice a day, cut a leaf off a aloe vera plant (aloe barb. variety... make sure its the right one) and rub it all over your face. What i do is cut a section off the leave, and using scissors, cut it open on each side and split it open down the middle. then rub the leaf all over my face, to begin with (over the first few weeks) i put quite a bit on my face, i covered it in the gel. I leave it on my face overnight, or until i washed my face next. 5. When washing, just use a sponge on your face and water. thats it. you dont need anything else. try and used bottled. 6. try and eat healthy for 5 weeks. avoid sugar, dairy and meat. watch for hidden sugar too. after 5 weeks of doing this, i cant beleive what has happened. I really want to find out if this can help people as well. Im looking for 5 people who have had bad irritated face perhaps like mine. or broken blood vessels or red face due to abuse over the years.... to follow exactly what i have down and email me their progress every week. Then i will post the results here for everyone to see. I really want to help people because i know what its like. ive been there, believe me. I truely believe that aloe vera might be a miracle plant. I used to read all the rosacea support messages during all the time my skin was bad, and i kinda thought i had rosacea but i dont think i did. My personal opinion is that most of you are irritating your face further and all this stuff you are buying and cleaning with is just a waste of money. I spents hundreds just like you all. check out this site: http://www.ferlowbrothers.com/bad.htm that shows you how bad the stuff is that you are putting on your face. it makes me sick to think i was doing that to myself. Some people pay thousands of dollars for photoderm to get rid of broken blood vessels (ive had one treatment previously) and i pay $2.50 for a plant and its fading my vessels before my eyes. anyway, im just waiting for 5 people who are willing to give this a go. Trust me, its changed my life and there was a point there where i thought nothing could ever help me. my skin was *that* bad. look forward to hearing from 5 people, or anyone that wants to chat more about this. Good luck. stephen. >From: Crzy4Pizza@... >To: stephenaloe@... >Subject: Re: you're all on the wrong track >Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 00:08:56 EDT > >hi! can you tell me your aloe treatment again. i accidently deleted it. > >i'd like to give it a try. > >thanks! syd _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Hi, see my original post. Pure aloe vera straight from the plant, rubbed on the area for at least 5 weeks, and incorporating udos choice oil 2 tablespoons a day, 50ml of aloe vera juice a day , and eating healthy trying to avoid sugar, dairy and meat. And using nothing else on my face but bottled water. Yep, thats it. See you later capillaries, it was nice knowing you. This is only my experience but it makes sense indeed. good luck. >From: adanac@... >To: rosacea-support >Subject: Re: you're all on the wrong track >Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 06:51:48 -0000 > >Please tell us what you did to cure your capillary damage. > > > > > > > > Anything you buy over the counter or you're derm prescribe is doing >you more > > harm then good. Guest guest
I have had rosacea since childhood - my grandmother had it also. My rosacea persisted despite the fact that I never used anything on my face. My grandmother didn't use any topical substances on her face either, yet continued to suffer from rosacea until the day she died.... Guest guest
To a certain extent, I have to say I agree with a lot of what Steve has said. In my own case, the more I've used products on my face, the worse it seems to have gotten (especially redder). Back in high school I used to use a lot of acne products, and my face became very red from them. I stopped using them for the most part while in college, except for a little Oxy-10 on the occasional pimple, and my complexion was much nicer (at least not red). The best my face has ever looked was several years ago when I didn't care about it at all (I was considering becoming a monk for unrelated reasons, and didn't see any reason for facial care). I rarely had pimples, and my face was a normal color. I look at photos of me from then, and it's amazing how nice my skin was. Back then I didn't put any lotions or creams on my face, didn't use any special cleansers, heck, I often didn't even shower every day (and didn't wash my face apart from showering). (I was planning on becoming a monk as I said, so it didn't matter if I smelled:) But my face looked fine. The redness I started having on mine (that is now a fairly consistent flush that gets very red at times) seemed to start a few months ago while taking antibiotics, then using a benzoyl peroxide cleanser, and a multitude of other products on my face. I think part of my redness is due to accumulated damage from the sun and excessive blushing (I blush very easily), but I think also a lot is from the various products I've been slathering on my face. I'm having photoderm done Thursday (although I'd like it to be a rather mild treatment, if that's possible? Want as little risk of damage as possible), will be trying to get a prescription for clonidine to prevent the stress related blushing (that i think causes damage to the blood vessels), and for the most part stop using products on my face. I figure I'll probably need to use something for a little while after the photoderm treatment, but once that's done.... Mike
