Guest guest
ours was the same situation....we had to have a "prescription" from the craniofacial dr and yes, "medical necessity" is good for them. Becky

Blue Cross Insurance covering the DOC BandDoes anyone have experience with getting Blue Cross to cover the Doc Band for plagiocephaly caused by torticollis? Guest guest
Gosh, you spoke my mind. We also have BCBS in TN and we were immediately denied siting it was cosmetic. I am starting my appeal process having gathered a letter from our pediatrician and all the photos and original measurements. Any other guidance would be great. I'm a little intimidated b/c when I called BCBS to follow up I was advised "not to waste my time with the appeal process." Aren't they paid to say that??? I keep thinking of that Grisham book! Guest guest
Wow, thanks for letting me know. Were there any certain language that was used in the letter of medical necessity, etc to get it covered? I called BCBS today (we live in Arizona and it is administered through Zenith) and they told me they cover DOC Bands all the time. My concern is Cranial Technologies is not contracted with them. However, we have a BCBS PPO. Gosh, I am so hoping it is covered. I don't know what we'll do otherwise! > > I have Anthem BCBS..and after getting letters from her craniofacial dr, > pediatrician and physical therapist, we went and had the measurements from CT and > she made the insurance req.
