Hi folks,

I have been a regular watcher here; thought I should introduce us.

You've been so helpful already by being a resource I can get to any

time of the day or night. My daughter Indigo is a beautiful little

girl with asian eyes and dark curly hair. She is nearly 14 months

old with an inquisitive personality. She's very active, and

although developmentally delayed, her mobility has taken some very

large advances in the last two months. We think her progress is due

in large part to the diet.

She has had seizures since she was 3 weeks old, starting with

Infantile Spasms, and she was diagnosed at 3 months with focal

cortical dysplasia. She's been in and out of the hospital, failed

multiple meds (topomax, trileptal, vigabatrin, keppra, now currently

on lamictal), and has been on the diet for 3 months now. She still

continues to have complex partial, tonic and focal seizures, but

they are more mild than they used to be. Unfortunately, she still

has 30-40 seizures per day. We wanted to try the diet as a last

ditch effort to avoid surgery. She's a candidate, but we are just

not ready to remove 70% of her left hemisphere.

Since starting the diet, she went from being flat on her back and

rolling occasionally to sitting up by herself, then pulling up, and

then crawling. We saw this progress in two-month's time. She's now

standing up on her own for 8-10 seconds at a time. We are

astonished with her progress. Since her seizures have gotten more

mild, she's become more alert and responsive. She still does not

make any consonant sounds, but we feel that she will get there

eventually.

Now for my question. A few weeks ago, she developed an ear

infection and we went on antibiotics. We treated her with

acidophilus to combat yeast - she's been prone to it. Since then,

she's been spitting up a lot more - she rarely did before. Now, she

done with the antibiotics, and we've continued with acidophilus for

another week or so. But she spits up so much now, and we're not

sure where it is coming from. Has anybody else encountered spitting

up on the diet? How do you fix it? Is there something we are doing

wrong? Could the acidophilus be causing it? Any help would be

appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

, and Indigo.
