Re: Grapfruit seed extract-be careful

We were caught with this one about 2 yrs ago when was on diazepam

after buying some liquid stevia that contained grapefuit seed extract as a

preservative. I think the actual problem is the metabolism pathways, both

thru exactly the same one, and the clearance rate of the med is affected.

(it builds up and can lead to toxicity)

Other meds like reflux ones have this interaction as well - my younger son

was on cisapride (prepulsid) as a baby, and his scripts always carried

a warning about grapefruit.

's diazepam however, didn't, grrrr.....
