I went into a semi Coma for 2 weeks because of a retarded doctor stopped seeing me, and refused to give me enough to wean off of it. Because of him, I still have what my current doctor calls "brain seizures" every so often that will knock me off my chair when they hit. All because of the doctor decided that he no longer wanted me as a patient, and no longer wanted to prescribe me the medication he started me on 3 months prior. I know of others that has gone into Full Comas for months, some has left to go to the store, and 4 days later the State Patrol 4 States away finds them dazed and confused, because they ended up driving and driving.....because they forgot where they had been going, and forgot where they lived and got scared. I have heard many stories, including those about people actually dying because their doctors stopped their Neurontin Cold Turkey. So, be VERY CAREFUL with the Neurontin!!!!! So I had to go to my doctors nurse and ask her for a new scrip for neurontin. thank god she gave me one but I could only afford 7 days, it cost me 100.00 . then the pharmacy called and said they are shipping it from new zealand and I should get 3 months supply next week. Well when I went to see the doctor and told her that I had RSD, she asked what it was? Well needless to say did not spend much time there, that is why you need to make sure they know about it. My doctor just wanted new patients and receptionist was willing to say anything to get her new patients! Pam I would even call the local hospital and see who they can recomend to you. If you are close to Albany Medical Center I can give you the name of an orthapedic that is absolutely the BEST!!!! He is my Moms and he teaches other doctors. He did double knee replacement surgery on my Mom and is also going to do shoulder surgery on her after the holidays. He is great and even asked him a few questions myself last time I was there with my Mom about RSD and MS. He was wonderful and took the time to explain things to me. His name is Dr. Fukes. SOmehow it would seem to me that if your GP can't help you with the RSD that they'd help you find a doc who can. Where do you live again? If got an SCS you still most likely would need pain meds and blocks at times. So your not on any meds Faith, I thought when we talked on phone you were taking meds, but guess got it messed up. I have a foot and ankle specialist that doesn't know what to do with me anymore, and a pain managment dr who wants to jump from the lumbar nerve block shots straight to the scs, nothing in between. He won't let me try the tens unit or anything. Oh yeah, and no meds either. If I don't want the scs right now, then I must not hurt that bad, so no meds. Nice doc, isn't he? Not!!!!! I think he's just knife happy. Lots of good luck your way to find a GOOD doctor and not some duck of a doctor! THEN MY MEDS GOT STOPPED AT THE CANADIAN BORDER AND NOW THEY HAVE TO TRY AND SHIP THEM AGAIN AND THEY ARENT EVEN A NARCOTIC JUST NEURONTIN. CRAZY......... MY PROBLEM IS THE DOCTORS ARENT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF OUR CONDITION. WHEN I CALLED ONE LAST WEEK THEY SAID THAT THEY DONT TREAT RSD. MY HUSBAND SAID EVEN IF WE HAVE TO LEAVE THE STATE TO FIND ONE WE WILL. BUT I THINK THERE HAS TO BE ONE IN NEW YORK STATE.
