Guest guest Posted October 12, 2004 Report Share Posted October 12, 2004 Lin, Sami was born 5/24/95 Crystal was born 10/14/99 I miscarried 3/5/00, 6/26/00 and 1/31/02 and Had Petey 2/17/03 Sami actually died due to lack of Nurses Paying attention when she was 13 hours old.....4 nurses and 2 babies in the Nursery.....and those 4 nurses couldn't pay attention to those 2 babies and couldn't tell that Sami threw up her formula and was choking on it and turned blue.....they had her clinically dead for 1 1/2 minutes and didn't bother telling me for an 1/2 hour when both my parents and Gene and his Parents came down all at the same time to see her! I totall freaked out.....I had gone in to get her to show her off to both sets of grandparents, especially since she was the first granddaughter for both, and the first grandchild my FIL had ever gone into the hospital to see (the boys, my nephews, he waited until they came home to see them instead of going to the hospital)......and when I came out of the nursery without her, my face pure white and in shock, both Gene and his Dad went in to the Nursery, even though only Gene was permitted to with the wrist band, his dad wasn't......and they both threw a MAJOR Fit finding out what was going on and everything while my parents and MIL comforted me in my room. 10 minutes later, Gene and his dad brought Sami into my room.....I dunno what they threatened or did to the nurses.....because I was told that she wasn't allowed out of the nursery for the rest of the day even when it was feeding time...... Neither Crystal nor Petey either one barely even seen the inside of the Nurseries...they both stayed in the rooms with me most of the time or they stayed next to the Nurses at the Nurses Stations. Crystal was born in a very small hospital.....and she was the only baby there, so the nurses never bothered with the nursery except to weigh her and the like.....otherwise they kept her with them whenever I went for a cigarette or a shower. Petey was born at the University of Nebraska......and he was in the Nursery at night when I slept or when I had a cigarette.....otherwise, he stayed with me in my room. But, I found out that they wouldn't let me fall asleep holding him! I was holding him the 2nd night, and fell asleep while watching TV.....when I woke up, I freaked out because he was gone! Well, I found him in the bassinet....the nurse took him out of my arms and laid him down.....according to hospital rules, it's dangerous for a parent to fall asleep while holding a newborn. Even Gene couldn't lay back in the chair like he was resting and hold Petey without the Nurse coming in and saying something. It was totally retarded..... That was so cruel of both and they should have both lost their license to practice or at the very least put on probation. Did you sue? I am not a big fan of sueing everyone under the sun, you know like the lady that spilled hot coffee on her lap and it was too hot, the worst part was that she actually won. But in some cases they are justified. Well.....wrote another novel....lol Tonia Actually I think you could write a novel or an autobiography it would be. Well Dwight brought home the article, it's okay she got some of the timeline wrong with what happened to me, but otherwise it was okay for a small town paper. My picture is absolutely stunning well at least I was stunned when I saw it LOL The hospital where had Katelin, the babies are kept in the rooms too except for bathing and stuff like that. Dean told me on the 2nd night fell asleep with Katelin in her arms and the nurse came in and went to put Katelin in her bassinet and held on tighter, then Dean tried talking to to let him hold her for awhile, still wouldn't let go. So finally the nurse put both bed rails up and tucked a couple of blankets around her to make sure Katelin couldn't get her head trapped in the railing. But it is all hospitals policy not to let a sleeping parent hold a newborn, I am sure this came about because somebody either dropped their child or it got caught in the railing and someone probably blamed a hospital and got a multi million dollar settlement.
