Guest guest
I have a question for the group; My daughter Hannah has been on the diet for 1 year 3 month and I am very worried about her elevated cholestrol and triglyceride levels; Her cholestrol is 310 which is down for previous levels and her triglycerides are 760 - the highest ever; Do some of your kids have such high levels?? What does your neuro say?? My other question is - Did the clinic where you started the diet do a baseline EKG or did you see a cardiologist when your child went on the diet; or at any other time while on the diet. Please help if you can!!!!!!!!!!!N Thanks, Deneesa, Hannah's mommy
Guest guest
Look at your fat sources, are you using a lot of cream, butter, processed meats? If so, a move to oils from the cream and butter will be much much healthier and should lower her cholesterol. The diet can be done healthy or unhealthy.......unfortunately most centres don't seem to realize that. Also flax oil has been shown to lower cholesterol independant of the diet. So a good variety of oils, some flax, some olive, some sunflower or safflower might be your answer. Also is she on tegretol? That can raise cholesterol and with the diet it can be a double whammy PS I think most centres don't do baseline EEGs. I am not sure its necessary either, but it is important to supplement with selenium because not doing so can result in heart problems. deneesad@... wrote: > I have a question for the group; My daughter Hannah has been on the > diet for > 1 year 3 month and I am very worried about her elevated cholestrol and > > triglyceride levels; Her cholestrol is 310 which is down for previous > levels and her > triglycerides are 760 - the highest ever; Do some of your kids have > such high > levels?? Guest guest
Denessa- I can't speak strictly about lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels while on the diet, but in the past when I or others have had this problem it was helped by switching my fat intake to healthier fats and exercising more. I don't know if this would help Hannah or maybe you're already do such. The oils that are most beneficial are oils like UDO " s oil made by flora which is made up of different types of oil, guarantee of cold press (aiding with preserving all of the beneficial properties) and is organic. It can be purchased on line or at someplace like whole foods/fresh fields. Safflower oil, flaxseed oil and even hemp oil, now being sold many places, also found at whole foods, have also proved helpful. The saturated fats are usually what raise cholesterol levels. If I were you, I would insist on any test that would ease my mind. I am a firm believer in monitoring things that could be affected by any change in the diet; it really could hurt to keep a close eye on such things. Anyways, I know I didn't answer your question exactly but maybe something will help. , mom to Ethan cholestrol and triglycerides I have a question for the group; My daughter Hannah has been on the diet for 1 year 3 month and I am very worried about her elevated cholestrol and triglyceride levels; Her cholestrol is 310 which is down for previous levels and her triglycerides are 760 - the highest ever; Do some of your kids have such high levels??
