Guest guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Share Posted April 8, 2002 Hi , My newest baby spent 3 days in hospital with bronchiolitis when she was a month old. The way it was explained to me was that is usually a cold virus that causes their little bronchioli to inflame and clog with mucus. Because newborns are so little this can happen pretty fast and their sats can drop quickly, hence the O2. Usual treatment here is with ventolin and steroid nebs to clear up the inflammation. They will also probably check for RSV. Bronchiolitis is serious in new babies, needs hospitalization, but very quick recovery if well treated.
