Guest guest
Carolyn Earlier this year Claire was in hospital as she was having severe seizures all night long. She had just dropped the last of her medication (Lamictal - which she had been on for years) but we had been using a variety of benzo drugs to try to stop the clusters of seizures at night (nitrazepam, Rivotril, Clobazam). Nothing worked and I concluded the benzos were making her seizures worse and also they made her really dopey by day and the drooling prevented her from eating. Benzos were ceased and a small amount of Trileptal, only 225mg at night, was started. Over the next few nights the seizures reduced considerably and now she hasn't had a seizure for over 6 weeks. Since the Valium made your son worse, I wonder whether he also reacts adversely to benzo drugs. What other meds is he on? It could very well be the meds interfering with the diet working. Since the diet seems to increase the effects of meds many people find they have to reduce them early on. One other thought, have the carbs in the meds been calculated into the diet? If not, this could be interfering with his ketone levels.
