Guest guest
, Thanks for checking on us. I am surprised that I have not heard from the neuro, but I need to call them tomorrow to see if we need to keep taking carnitine after keto, so I will ask and let you know. Langan's BHBs are now closer to where I thought they would be- waking was 0.9 yesterday and 0.5 today. I have not been able to get a nighttime check- either Langan has gone to sleep too soon after eating for one that would mean anything or something else has happened to foil my plans. I will hopefully get one tonight, to see if the pattern makes any sense. She had chocolate lowfat yogurt tonight so I would expect no ketones, but you know with Langan you can never expect things to go as expected! Tomorrow is our first non-keto day in over 9 months. After making dinner tonight (where I used the scale even though nothing needed to be weighed at this point), I didn't have the heart to pack away the scale. This is going to take some getting used to! I hope all is well with . I'll be sticking around to keep an eye on all my favorite keto-kids. Even though Langan will no longer be on the diet, I feel like a keto mom for life! , mom to Langan > Have you heard fron the neuro yet ? Any answers? > I would think that for her to have high bhb after fasting that she is using stored fat for energy/survival rather than stored glucose (glycogen) for some reason - usually the body will preferentially use glycogen, but Langan sees to not want to do that??? > I suppose there was no reason to ever check for ketones before going on the diet, but she perhaps was in ketosis naturally on and off before even starting keto - poss why she went too overboard after being put on it officially? > Or - is she losing weight right now and producing ketones that way maybe? Probably too soon too tell I guess? > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: langansmom > To: ketogenic > > > I checked BHB when she woke up and it was 3.1!!!! That makes NO sense > to me. Any ideas? Also, I checked blood glucose this morning and > it was 81. Does that make sense?
