Guest guest Posted September 1, 2002 Report Share Posted September 1, 2002 I am going to NY to see Dr. Bologonese Sept 5 and decided to fly. NY had requested that I get a tilt table test done at home and bring the results with me. Before they would do the tilt table test, I had to have a consultation with a cardiologist. The cardiologist indicated that he would not do that test on me because of my tachycardia and arrythmia of the heart which has been really severe since June when my symptoms started back. He indicates that this problem is from the chiari and the signal from the brain stem and not an actual structural problem of the heart. He stated if he did the test, there was a risk of having a severe arrythmia, heart attack or a stroke and he was not willing to take that risk. The other thing he told me was that I should not fly to NY due to the rapid change in pressure while taking off and landing. He stated that this could cause severe arrythmias since I am having such a problem with it right now. I have supraventricular tachycardia with skipped beats. Has anyone else been told this? I had already made reservations to fly, but now I am considering driving instead which is a 12 hour drive.
