I just got another call from Parsons. is in CRITICAL

condition. She apparently has coded at least once today. Please continue

her prayers and contact other prayer warriors on her behalf!

I will be keeping in my daily prayers. May her struggle with life

end, as God lays his hands upon her and heal her back to health. For that God

is our example of life.

Thanks for the update, yes I will keep in my prayers tonight and I

will tell the chuch group tomorrow to let us pray for her. What happened

with her? Why is she in criticul condition?

By the way, I am glad your surgery turned out OK. Now I am worried. I am

scheduled for 5/15 and when I hear bad things my mind works overtime.

First, have faith that you surgery will go perfectly. We are all different

and our bodies react differently to the stresses upon it. Our surgery is a

major stressor. is having a very bad time of it, but Sharon went

home before 8am the day after surgery and Tonni (who was the very last one

done) went home shortly after her. The rest of us have had very little

problems if any.

As for what happened. From what I understand from my conversations with Dr.

R. and with Parsons, developed a leak. She was not feeling

well from right after surgery. While the rest of us were having some pain,

her pain was worse from the start. She went home from the hospital on Wed.

and then returned on Thursday. Dr. R. did surgery on her and repaired the

leak. He says that it was leaking at one stitch where he connected the loop

in her intestines. The infection was leaking out which is what gave her such

bad pain and fever. Dr. R. said he corrected this but that she was not out

of the woods.

After my conversation with Dr. R. (about 2:30 this afternoon), I got the call

from that was in critical condition. I do not know if she

was in " critical " when I talked to Dr. R. He did not use those exact words.

told me that it appeared that may have coded at least once

today. I have no confirmation on that yet, and have been unable to reach

anyone at the hospital (Fanney, , Joni, , Steve, etc.)

I will keep you posted as soon as I get more info.

Please do not let this scare you away from having your surgery. Yes, it

could happen to any of us and that is why Dr. R. requires that we be aware of

the risks up front. Many other Dr.'s do not discuss these risks so openly.

Consider though that any of us could be hit by a car while crossing the

street also. We don't know why God chooses one person and not another. Just

know that God IS in control, and He is looking after our .

Thanks for the words of comfort. I know we are all different, I have had a

bad experience with a surgery and that is why I overreact and get myself

worked up. As I told everyone before I am the one who freaked out of the

Open RYN while in the waiting area. Something overtook me (people say it was

my deceased Grandma, telling me not to do it) the feeling I had was something

I never felt before. That was in 1/96. So I have been searching for the

right Dr to do it thru Lap and an easier version with the possibilities of a

reversal if need be. My family is being supportive since they know it could

be reversible if it needed to be, plus the way Dr. R gives so much info.

I have a question. What does " Code " mean? Plus, how would one know if they

had a leak?

I am chickening out. I am really excited. It's all I can talk about. I

can't wait till I fly down 4-29 for the clinic. I have already set my

exercise programs into effect (something I haven't done in over 15 years) and

set realistic weight loss goals. My son will be home from college June 6 and

he is into vitamins, minerals and health stuff and he is going to be my

personal trainer.

How is the " liquid " part going for you? Tomorrow my husband and I are going

to a great health store near our home that carries Dr. Ornish's products. He

has great smoothies that taste great. Hubby is buying me a case. (easier to

open a small box then to get all the ingredients and mix) I am reading and

rereading the patient manual, so I will be prepared for the clinic.

I hear you stayed at the Duke Towers? I was going to stay somewhere else for

the $ sake but I changed my mind and have booked the Duke Towers. I hear

it's close to a shopping plaza. How close is it? Plus, with the track that

is a good thing for us to do.

Another question, how long before you were back in your room were you able to

get up and walk? I know that walking helps the gas escape sooner.

I know you are taking it easy, I am sorry to ramble on. You have been such a

help in the past, that is why I seek you out.

I have thanked God for getting you and your littermates through OK, and I

will certainly be praying for . This site is such an inspiration to

everyone and you are an angel that truly cares about people. I thank you for

that.

I really need to make a comment. I have read alot of posts lately since Pam

placed her reversal info and kristin (bless her heart ) is having

complications, where people are (now don't chew my head off for this guys)

getting really scared all of a sudden. Let me remind you this is a VERY

SERIOUS thing that we are doing. DEATH is a reality. You need to be fully

prepared for that, if complications are scaring you, you need to sit back

down and re-analize this whole thing. Do not let yourself suger coat it. ( No

pun intended) We need to hear it all and consider it all and calculate the

risks verses the reward.

Now let me put my mask on and you guys can start shooting, oh and i'll take

xtra cheese on my tombstone!
