Yep - the description on this site sounds v similar to the guy I saw - in his

words 'specialising in diagnosing' and then referring onto the relevant

specialist from there for treatment, depending on what his tests (and physical

exam and record of my medical history) show.

They are called 'General physicians' here, counted as a specialist as far as

credentials go (er and er how much he charges..) as opposed to a general

practioner, which is the local 'GP' who hasn't gone on to specilise in any

particular field.

Re: Thyroid / Saro- off topic

There are interns and residents on thier way to becoming full-fledged

MDs. But this is something different. Perhaps only in Canada??
