What a nice update on ! Like you, I am trying to sit tight too....but I

can't sit completely tight until the seizure pattern has changed.

The reason Shan's ratio is so low (1:1) is because the ketones kept

climbing. We would reduce by .2 and usually 2 weeks later the ketones were

back up to where she did not feel the best. It was a wean on demand. You

may find that 's ratio will need to be reduced every couple weeks for a

while. Wouldn't that be nice :)?

Shan is somewhat Atkins. Her protein is high. She has done better with

making the protein high and keeping the carbs around 20. Initially we

increased carbs as she came down on the ratio. Can you believe that at one

time she was receiving 60-70g of carbs and producing moderate ketones! That

was when we decided trying to wean her completely off the diet. We allowed

unlimited vegetables and fruit and she became excessively happy and was

climbing the walls. We put her back on a 1:1 ratio, went back into ketosis

but she continued to climb the walls. Not until we reduced the carbs to 20

did she " come back to earth. " That's when we got the idea of increasing the

protein and limiting the carbs. That has been working well until recently,

but I'm thinking that we have finally got things figured out....time will

tell.

I'll be in touch with you privately. seems to be a lot like our Shan.

Shan has been in early intervention programs since age 19 months.

As well, you are more than welcome to contact me privately.

RE: Keto Routine labs/tests - to

Dear Rhonda

Even with reduced calories, has not lost any weight. However, she is

no longer gaining! She feels good, too, and ketones went up and may require

a ratio lowering in a while. I have switched so many things around that I

just need to give everything a break and see how it all settles. She is

having the good days we saw at the very beginning of the diet.

If you should like to chat about homeschool, please email me at

hosannahouse@.... I am a veteran. Started in 1979 with my oldest.

will begin a pre K program I am developing this next month. She is

delayed, and I can see that she will need the help of lots of repetition and

structure. Her older sister is a learner. She would learn whether there

was " school " or not. Always reading, doing, investigating. Talk about two

opposites!

Anyway, I am tickled you will be getting support with your move. With your

experience and sleuthing, Shan has a good chance at becoming seizure free.

The Lord is good!

I signed up for the Atkins (board and saw you are on it), as wonder how long

a child can stay healthy on keto, even with supplements, and Atkins sounds a

bit more " for real. " I want on keto for a couple of years, if it works

for her. So far, I am not really really sure. It sounds strange, but her

seizures came in cycles...

Love to hear from you. I am glad Shan is blossoming in homeschool. Having

taught in the public schools, it is easy to believe that every child does

not get everything they need. I loved it when I was there, but love

teaching my own even more! ... 's mumma.
