Guest guest
Carolyn, If you don't like your doctor, can you change to one who will listen to you more? On the ketogenic diet they recommend vitamons and supplements with the diet. (none containing carbohydrates or any sugar though.)iron, calcium and selenium were 3 of the other minerals my daughter mentioned. He sounds like he needs iron supplements. Too much iron is dangerous also so don't overdo. Here there are some childrens vitamons you can buy with minerals such as iron in them which are ketogenic safe. Could you speak with your pharmacist about this. Perhaps your doctor will talk to you tomorrow and prescribe something. Some people have talked on here about using bicarb of soda for acidosis but I am not an expert at all. I have no idea what normal is on the diet or how much to use. You could look it up on Hopkins site. It all sounds very complicated. I did a search on iron deficiency anemia and it can be caused by other things also.. I'm sorry I am not very much help but this is hard because I am not a doctor and do not want to harm him by my advice.
