Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for your message; yes I know this book well and we have tried this diet for a few months; my son was starving on it (not enough fats, too low in calories); I now also have lab evidences of glucose metabolism being impaired for Lloyd, so switching to ketogenesis has helped with energy. It has stopped the constant hunger Lloyd had. In some ways, the keto diet is similar to SCD, and some improvements we have seen could be related to gut flora regulation- certainly the stools abnormalities we have had are cleared. I wanted to say that I have been adding an enzyme extract to my son's meals to help him to digest the fats; called B.P.P. from Thorn, it has betaine hydrochloride (520mg), Pepsin (20mg), Pancreatin (100mg), Amylase, Protease and LIPASE. Seems to help a lot with digestion. Lorene - In ketogenic , wrote: > Hi- welcome to our group. I hope you can find us helpful & encouraging! I don't have answers to your questions, but I did want to make sure you have researched the SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet)... especially since your son has autism and the wheat & milk intolerance. If you haven't read it already, Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall is highly recommended!! > > > Mom to Noah- age 3, med-free, & seizure-free on the keto diet > > LAmet wrote: > Dear all, > > I am new on the list- My son Lloyd is 8 years old, he has late onset > autism (I believe related so his 2 years intake of sodium valproate) > and epilepsy.
