Guest guest
I think that my first attempt failed so here's a duplicate email. Bill Pace, here from NYC. Carolyn Fox and I have emailed each other and we'd be up for meeting this weekend on Saturday at 11:45 AM (or so) at Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn right on the East River overlooking the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. It's a small, yet truly spectacular state park. And it's easy to get to. (see link for info and directions). http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp? parkID=70 ). This is in an area called DUMBO which is a neat place to check out on your own before or afterwards for galleries and shops and the view of Manhattan. Plus if you haven't ever walked over the Brooklyn Bridge this is your chance. Also, Grimaldi's, one of the city's most celebrated pizza places is right there, too. The park is having their annual outdoor sculpture show opening that day at noon (last year was nicely attended, but not overcrowded). Three banded babies/toddlers will be there. Hmm? Perhaps someone from the press will take a pic of our little " sculptures in progress. " Or at least we can post a pic for the group from a postcard perfect setting. Please post or email if you think that you can make it. Bill, Molly, Wally (19 Months, 4 months in DOC Band), and (5 months getting banded tomorrow at CT, Paramus. Guest guest
Hi! I am very interested in getting together this weekend to meet other plagio babies!! My son is 5 mo old and just got his helmet today. We are in our trial period so he only had to wear it 4 hrs today, 6 tomorrow, 8 hours on Fri and then 22 hrs on Sat. My only ques. is what if the weather is really hot this weekend wont it be too hot for our babies heads? My son sweats profusely and this is only his 1st day wearing it. Let me know the details on where you want to meet up! Guest guest
So far, weather forecasters are predicting 81 F with clear skies and low humidity. It will make a pleasant change and break from the heat and humidity. But whether you believe or trust in the weather forecasters and their predictions is up to you. Hope to see you and anyone else interested in coming there. Carolyn in NYC Mum to Malcolm - 9 mos old - Doc band #2 6/9 Re: Plagio playgroup this saturday in New York City.. This Saturday!!!!! Hi! Guest guest
and Christian make at least four plagio kids getting together this Saturday in NYC! Let's meet " just inside " the main entrance to the park at 11:45AM. The main entrance to Empire Fulton Ferry State Park is on Dock St at Water St. a good map of the area can be found at this link. http://www.artsatstanns.org/index2.html As stated in the posting below the park is small enough (and the helmuts are noticable enough) that we shouldn't have any problem finding each other - even if one comes late. my cell is 646-894-7777 just in case... Guest guest
I can highly recommend Doc Band and CT in Paramus, NJ. Believe it or not, they're the only ones who do the Doc band in the whole NYC metro area! Nevertheless, you can make an appointment and they can give you a free evaluation and assess whether your son needs a helmet or not. They'll send you home if your son's head might improve with aggressive repo or tort needs more work before banding. I can also highly recommend seeing Dr. Goodrich (www.jamestgoodrich.net) at Montefiore Children's Hospital in the Bronx. Dr. Goodrich is a pediatric cranial facial neurosurgeon who specializes in plagio/bracycephaly and other craniofacial disorders. Dr. Goodrich is world-renowned, though very approachable and unassuming. He can give you a second opinion, reassurance, and advise you on whether a helmet is warranted or not. He's very busy though and it may take you a month or two before you can see him. Good luck. Anyway, we would love to keep in touch with you all...I thought your e-mail addresses were listed on these messages but only part of the e-mail address is shown so I couldn't directly e-mail you. Please keep in touch. Please e-mail me at jsong@.... I'll keep you posted on Alden's band. Wish us luck! Guest guest
To Bill, Molly, Molly's Mum Jen, and anyone else I may have left out: Thanks for coming!!! It was a pleasure to meet everyone and their babies. Everyone's baby (and toddler) - Wally, , CJ, Alden, Malcolm - looked adorable and look even more adorable with the band (or soon to be in one). Will try to post the photos tonight or tomorrow. Meanwhile, good luck and keep us posted on what's happening. Guest guest
Yes. Actually, the first time I saw Dr. Goodrich (www.jamestgoodrich.net) he actually asked me if I had went to CT for an initial consultation. I said that we had and that CT had recommended the band. The first time I saw Dr. Goodrich he said Malcolm had " considerable " flattening and that he was concerned about the facial asymmetry (ears, cheeks, and forehead bossing). Bear in mind, though, that Malcolm was born with plagio (flattening and facial asymmetry) and tort and in-utero cases nearly always require medical intervention to correct. Dr. Goodrich said Malcolm would make a good candidate for the Doc band, but left the decision of getting the Doc band to me. He also never told me how severe Malcolm's plagio was. However, when we visited a second time, he said that Malcolm's head had been as flat as a board before he got his first band. Gee thanks. Nevertheless, Dr. Goodrich will not recommend banding if he doesn't think it's warranted. I know he sent a couple from Pelham home for more repositioning before considering banding. Good luck and keep me posted on what's happening to your adorable Alden. Best, Carolyn in NYC Mum to Malcolm - 9 mos - Doc Band #2 Re: Plagio playgroup this saturday in New York City.. This Saturday!!!!! Hi Carolyn, Thanks for your advice. Did Dr. Goodrich recommend the Doc band/CT? My neurosurgeon has not called me back and I can't get a recommendation from him on which band maker to go with so I'm trying to get some referrals from other ns. > > > > > > I think that my first attempt failed so here's a duplicate > email. > > > > > > > > > Bill Pace, here from NYC. > > > > > > > > > > > > Carolyn Fox and I have emailed each other and we'd be up for > > meeting > > > this weekend on Saturday at 11:45 AM (or so) at Fulton Ferry > State > > > Park in Brooklyn right on the East River overlooking the > Brooklyn > > > and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline.
