Guest guest
On the diagnosing note.... I went to a specialist yesterday about the thyroid/lupus business hanging over me, referred there by my surgeon, and I asked this guy 'exactly what IS your speciality??' Nurse that had made the appt was really vague, so I hadn't been too sure... I was thinking either endocrine, auto immune, something like that...and he said I had been referred there because he was a 'general physician' specialist. I said - what, like my GP? He said no no, we specialise in diagnosing, and then refer you on to the appropriate field from there. Ordered zillions of bloods, thorough physical exam, took history etc...he will get all the results, hopefully put it all together, diagnose, and off I go to the next step for treatment.... Anyways, just wondered why there is no one like that I have ever come across in the pediatric world with 's exploits - like someone to, like you say 'put it all together'. Like a step up from a pediatrician I guess? Maybe it is just little countries like NZ that don't have diagnosing specialists in this area for children? Wouldn't suprise me? ----- Original Message ----- From: mmc@... We have a PILE of clues from Jess, problem is have not yet found the person who can put them all together )
